Pure Encapsulations PureGenomics Multivitamin, 60 Capsules

I’m so confused by the smell thing. Let me say first, I have the MTHFR mutation. I think regular vitamins smell disgusting. B vitamins are the worst. Prenatal vitamins I always hated that weird vanilla ish flavor. I was expecting these to smell and taste so bad. They don’t to me. I wonder if it’s that mutation? To me they smell like baby formula burps. Also, with the first hour I had that feeling that I can only describe as “all systems online”. I did find I need to curb my caffeine when taking these. I use so much because I’m always so tired but these have the right mix to cause natural energy. When I say I am usually the first to turn up my nose at a weird smell- I used to get picked on for it. I don’t mind these. Maybe it was how ready I was for the smell of death. Oh as for taste or burps… I do the vitamin sandwich. I eat half my breakfast, take vitamins then eat the rest. I’ve always done it that way. But no taste on first taking them.

I buy this for my Autistic son who has a low folic acid conversion rate. It has methyl folate in it, which is an already converted form of folic acid. Good for those with Genetic Polymorphism. (Genetic variations) It does have a slight odor to it but he takes it and doesn’t seem to kind the odor. Genetic testing is key to understanding, it’s a simple blood test.

These multivitiamins are amazing. I feel much more energized when I take them and I find I am able to get a lot more done without feeling fatigued or like I need to nap. With that being said, they smell. So bad. I have to hold my breath when I take these and even then, I can still smell them. The smell alone will make me gag, so it's a fight trying to take them, but it's so worth it. The smell will also linger, so you'll continue to taste it well after you've already taken it. I highly recommend these, just be wary of the smell.

I was getting this at my custom pharmacy. They stock it as one of the best. Glad Amazon has it at comparable price.

*Edit: Removed a star because I had to stop using it due to the high biotin level. It was driving my scalp crazy. Almost got through the whole bottle. The high chromium content was making me very hungry a lot more and my blood sugar drop uncomfortably, but the biotin scalp itchiness was the last straw.* I love that this has *almost* all the forms of things I've been looking for and it's nearly perfect. Not enough to lose any stars, it's an amazing product. The only things I would adjust are: 1) Lower the chromium level a little bit. It's a bit excessive. 2) Lower the biotin level a lot. That's way too much biotin. It's going straight to my scalp and dandruff. 3) Include MK4 form of Vitamin K². PRO-TIP ON THE SMELL: For anyone who has gotten this far, I realize that the supplement stinks/tastes foul. I have found that keeping it refrigerated and only taking the pill out of the container when you're standing at the fridge and immediately swallowing it with water (or your beverage of choice) helps a bit. Otherwise, it's just something to get used to.

There is no way around the pee smell. That said, I was taking a vitamin and it was causing repeated bathroom visits. I switched to these because most vitamins mask the natural smell with slight flavor profiles. Vitamins - in the natural state - smell. These are about as pure of an absorption your body can have. No fluorescent urine — just smells like it. Take at night!

I purchased these vitamins multiple times over the past year because I’ve seen amazing reviews about the quality of ingredients. This past batch I got has developed a weird smell and an ugly appearance with red/brown spots in the vitamin capsule within weeks of purchasing. I am concerned about what I consumed and if this is harmful to my health. DO NOT BUY THIS. I store these vitamins in a cool dark place with desiccant as the bottle suggests so I’m not sure where this contamination came from. They do not expire until February 2026 (writing this review in August 2024) so the level of contamination and degradation is completely unacceptable. I do not recommend these to anyone. I contacted the company and they have not gotten back to me. I am so disappointed.

Hard to know if the extra money is worth it for vitamins, but my physician strongly recommended this vitamin. It seems to work fine.
