vivid pictures and good vocabulary
Bought this and two other of her books for our 6 monrh old. We are trying to expose him to the language so he can recognize some of the sounds. pictures were fun to look at and the sentences were just the right length for reading to him. I was really happy with the level of vocabulary used -- most of the words were simple, but there are enough complex words like "Camellia flower" and "honeysuckle" that I had to refresh my memory. That kept the book interesting for me.

Five Stars
it has Chinese on one side and English on the other. Very cute book.

A cultural look at the seasons
A Mandarin/English tour through the seasons from the perspective of a squirrel.I like that the author provided a pronunciation guide in the back of the book and pinyin translations of the characters so you can actually learn some Mandarin from reading this. I also liked the Chinese view of the seasons with things like persimmons in fall and yellow watermelon in summer. A cute and culturally rich little picture book.

Not recommended
We got this book from the library and seriously if you want to learn real Chinese, this is definitely NOT the book to get! Like many people reviewed before, the term "squirrel" (title of the book) is not written correctly. A lot of the structure of the sentences are not written correctly either and it sounds like the author just Google translated the English and turned it into chinese. It was just weird reading it to my kids. I do not recommend this book.

Bilingual board book features cute little squirrel.
This bilingual board book (Mandarin and English) will be enjoyed by any child who likes animals. The main character, a squirrel, tracks the seasons and the watercolor illustrations picture the changes and other critters who the squirrel sees. The text is simple but captures the essence of each two page set. This would be an excellent companion book with "Hurry Home, Hedgehog!".Book provided by author.

Not good for Chinese learning
The title is obviously a conversion from Simplified Chinese to Traditional Chinese. During this conversion, a typo has been introduced. In Traditional Chinese, a "squirrel" should be 松鼠 not 鬆鼠 (as pointed out by a previous poster). As someone who was born, raised and educated in a Traditional Chinese environment, this mistake is a huge eyesore and an indicator of subpar work from an unqualified Chinese writer.

Mistake on Title Page
I do not own this book but there is a huge mistake right on the title page! "Squirrel" is 松鼠 not 鬆鼠, literally "loose mouse." Maybe I am missing something, but I would not buy this book.

My 15month old son loved this book and I really enjoyed reading it to him (we don't speak any Chinese - both languages are on the page). We found it in the library. I'm not sure why he loved it so much - there are no popups or silly tongue twisters - it is just very peaceful. He brought it to me over and over.
