Very nice knife - would recommend
This is a really nice knife by Civivi. 14C28N steel has a very fine grain structure and takes a scary sharp edge. The factory edge was reasonably sharp but not razor sharp, which is fine with me as I do my own sharpening. The hollow ground blade cuts very well. The micarta handle scales are nicely done and plenty grippy; I would describe the micarta finish as kind of supple, where you can feel the softness of the fabric threads, so not polished or slick, which is just how I like micarta scales. Blade centering was perfect. The action of the button lock is very nice - the blade swings freely when you press the button, and it locks up securely with no blade play.

THE Knife.
I loved the regular Elementum. I didn't expect to when I bought it. I've got a bit of a budget knife addiction and tend to rotate through my collection frequently. Sometimes changing knives midway through the day when the whim strikes me. The Elementum surprised me though. It's elegant enough to work as a gentleman's carry. It's small enough to be extremely easy to carry. But it's also big and capable enough at cutting to feel like a plus-sized workhorse. It's not especially distinctive or visually exciting. It's just a basic peanut butter and jelly drop/spear point done to perfection. Strangely enough though, all of those disparate facts cause it to straddle enough of the niches in my EDC stable that I didn't find myself rotating blades like I usually do. The Elementum just works and even excels at almost all of the things I need a knife for in a given day. So when I saw the button lock version, I had high hopes that the Elementum DNA would make for something amazing. Apart from in sheer edge retention, 14C28N steel is easily one of the best budget, non-powdered steels as an end user. Easy to get stupid sharp; easy to maintain through stropping or honing. I don't have a ton of experience with button locks but I'm willing to learn. So now that I've been using it so far, how does it stack up? Excellently it turns out. The button lock is fun and fidget-friendly. The blade takes everything excellent about the regular Elementum and tunes up the cutting performance. That super thin hollow grind geometry just cuts for days. The point is keen without be too delicate. The ergonomics are great and the whole package is light, lithe and streamlined. Easy to carry, effortless to use. It has a lot going for it. The pivot does seem to be a little finicky due to the black coated hardware. Needing to be tightened just right to stay fluid but eliminate blade wobble. Which would be fine, but the pivot seems to be prone to backing itself out through use. Which would also be fine if I hadn't run out of Blue Loctite a few weeks before that. So as soon as the new stick of that gets here, all of that should be resolved. Could it have used a flipper tab or thumb stud? Maybe, yeah. But I get why they didn't add one based on the design, which definitely works as-is. Time will tell whether this falls into the same butter zone as the original Elementum. Looks very good so far though. YEAR 2 UPDATE: I'm on my second BLE now. Complete with titanium clip to make sure I don't lose it like the first one. The form factor, lightness, and cutting performance turned this into a dark horse that beat everything else out in my stable. I only carry this one black knife now. I don't miss the flipper anymore. I love the minimalism of the package more. I can open it as fast and with as much or little flash as I need to. Leaving it fidget-friendly without being intimidating. The fact that it locks closed also means it's safe enough to trust near kids, non-knife users and more often, my femoral artery. The black coated hardware eventually polishes smooth, taking all the fuzziness out of the action with it, leaving it drop-shut and glassy. I keep it sharp enough to whittle hair, touch it up in-between jobs and rarely find the need to resharpen. The geometry behind the edge doing 9/10ths of the cutting work. It's effortless to carry, understatedly efficient and bafflingly brilliant at meeting my knife needs. So this IS my knife now...and if I lost or damaged it, I'd replace it with the same.

Slick EDC
So Ill say this right away-I love this knife, at this point I regret not getting Damascus style of the blade but I was worried it’d be too nice for EDC. So the things I like about it: -its sleek design, it is thin compared to my other knives and is also light weight. -I really like the clip design where the clip starts at the very edge of it so when you clip it inside your pocket its almost disappears and less visible than other clip designs. -also it is probably the sharpest knife Ive gotten but to be fair this is the most expensive knife ive gotten so far. -since this is my first CIVIVI knife I am totally newbie to this opening mechanism and I must say I love it, loved it from first sight, the sound when the knife opens is so clean and satisfying you iust wanna keep playing with it. Another great thing that I like is -the size of the blade, its 3.5 which makes it decent size and not short blade closer to 3”, but I could definitely use another quarter of an inch to make it legal but still keep it under 4”, but thats just my thinking or even overthinking because by no means this knife feels small in your hand. I recommend and probably eventually will get the Damascus version if it will still be up for sale, but if not im definitely gona be getting another color or maybe even as a present. Great product imo

Almost perfect.
I knew this when I ordered it, but I didn't realize how much I'd miss it. This version of the Elementum does not have the flipper tab on the back. You unlock it by pressing the button and the blade will drop with gravity and you can flick it open. I miss the flipper. I also own the smaller Elementum 2, which I love. Great value knife. The action is smooth. I only wish it had the flipper.

Safest and Best Pocket Knife
This has become my favorite pocket knife, enough that I purchased them for my sons as well. They love theirs as well. I LOVE the button-lock feature with the ball-bearing action. This allows a free and open ONE-HANDED opening and closing of the knife. To operate: Push the button in and slowly roll your and to allow the blade to smoothly rotate into position with gravity alone, either open or closed. No flicking, no force, no touching of the blade whatsoever, no need for a second hand. The blade is high quality Japanese knife steel that keeps its edge with minimal touch-ups to keep it sharp. I've sharpened it about once a year, and have had it for several years going through many boxes. The belt clip holds up and the overall weight is light enough I don't mind it at all. Air travel is the only time it leaves my side!

I have bought over 30 of these!
This review should stand out! I looked back at my purchase history. I have now bought over 30 of these knives. I own an electrical contracting company and for 4 years I have been buying these for my guys for Christmas and I own 3 or 4 for myself. These are high quality knives! They hold their sharp edge extremely well even with daily use. The clip needs retightened occasionally but I were it every day! All my guys love them, they look awesome, perform awesome and come in so many styles I have been able to customize the knife to fit my employee's style. This picture is of my daily carry after 2 years, bought it Dec 2023 and I have never sharpened this one. Highly recommend!
