Redi Shade No Tools Easy Lift Cordless Light Filtering White Fabric Shade | 30" W x 64" L, (Fits windows 19" - 30" W), Pleated, Trim-at-Home, No Tools Installation

I was super excited to get this. The size I ordered fit the space I needed perfectly so I didn't need to cut it down to size. The previous tenants of my apartment had frosted tints on the window and I enjoy being able to see outside and letting light into my home as much as possible. I live on the first floor and it's not raised from the street so anyone can see right in and see our whole apartment so I was concerned about privacy if anyone is walking by. So I was looking at alternative tints for windows but the issue with getting other tints is that you'll be able to see outside fine in the day but anyone can see inside at night when our lights are on. So I thought of a sheer curtain but that would have taken too much work and it's such a small space. SO during my search I found these blinds that didn't need any nails or screws or drill work, just self adhesive. It fits perfectly in the gap between my cupboard and the cubby window sill and there's enough height in between that the blinds can be hidden just have to make sure not to push it up too far. Today is the first day of it being up and so far so good. It's adhered to a dry wall paint so we'll see how it holds up. I know adhesives adhere better to shiny surfaces. My kitchen isn't very bright so I'm happy that there's a way to make it brighter with these blinds. What I love is that you barely need any strength to pull it down and minimal effort to push it up. **Update July 12, 2019** Ok so the adhesion to the wall wasn’t so great and it detached BUT I think it’s because my husband was fiddling with it showing it off to our friend and it became uneven and I was trying to fix it and it and that’s when it detached. I already had a solution in mind for when a time like this came and I needed to put it back up. Adhesive sticks best to a shiny surface so I put a strip of clear 2” tape over the painted area and put a new strip of double sided tape on the blinds and stuck the blinds onto the taped area. I will update again if this was a fail. **Update November 20, 2021** Still holding up strong since my last update with the clear tape method. I was having issues with the unevenness.. I always try to pull both sides together instead of pulling the middle incase it causes a strain on the adhesive but I’m so short that to stretch for far to reach the right side is not always so perfect. So I followed the instructions to extend the blinds to the max length to reset it. It’s been levelled fine since a couple days ago. ** Update March 26, 2022 ** Yea it went back to being unlevelled days later. And now the string has popped on the left side. So I guess this last 2.5 years. I don’t know how to fix the pulley mechanism for the string so I just took off the base, trimmed the length and using chip clips to hold it open.

Got these to use as a temporary solution, years later have them in most of my rooms still. Have some complaints but overall the price and ease of them makes up for any of my complaints. The cons: - adhesive isn’t great. In some of my windows it’s never been a problem, but places like the bathroom, it has. Not hard to take a couple nails to secure it if you don’t mind putting holes. Fixes the problem though and they feel much sturdier. - I have had the string snap once, but considering how many of these I have, one breaking isn’t too bad. - Sometimes it can be finicky to get the blinds straight, but with some adjusting it can be fixed. Pros - easy to cut to size - easy to install, takes about 5 min or less. - privacy but still let’s light through.

Everything about these blinds is just fine. They let through lots of light but are visually opaque so are great for privacy. They went up easily, work just fine, the price is right, BUT, as many other reviews have noted, they do not stick! I installed one on fairly new paint, the other on a varnished window frame. (old varnish) I wiped down the surface on both so it was clean and dry. One shade started peeling off in about two weeks, the other took a month. I finally make some thin strips of wood 3/8" wide by 1/8" thick, drilled five equally-spaced holes in them and screwed them, through the top fold of shade, to the window frame with #4 wood screws. Now they're perfect. The manufacturer should include this strip (probably made of plastic) with the shades!

UPDATE 1/21/2024 I had originally wrote this review in February or maybe March of 2023 shortly after I purchased these and started having issues. I just decided to update it because several more have failed along the way in a pretty short span of time with broken cords and adhesive problems and we have just lived with it. In fact, all of them have some kind of issue now that makes me wish I had never purchased them. However, when I went to the order to update the review, it looks like I may have never originally hit the submit button, so if not - here it is now. Oh, and my son, who originally turned me onto these and said they were great, and who didn't have any of the problems that I was seeing, has since experienced all of his breaking one way or another and was forced to move on as well. March 2023 ? I bought 7 of these starting back in 12/2022 and again about the beginning of February 2023. I have 5 of the 48" and 3 of the 30". About the only positive things about them is that they are pretty easy to install and the pleated design looks great. In theory, they should be a decent product at price point for someone who doesn't want to spend a ton of money on a higher quality shade and understands that these won't last anywhere near as long as those nicer ones. With that said... First off, the packaging is not sufficient, as the longer ones usually get bent or crushed in shipping - leaving a noticeable dent or broken plastic on the lower bar - sometimes in several places. Yes, Amazon will, and has replaced those, but time and effort is lost - especially if you don't notice damage until unpacking and possible already cutting. The product itself: I have had multiple issues with all of them, although the shorter ones are a little less problematic overall because they are slightly sturdier by nature of being shorter. However, they all suffer from several common issues. Like others have commented, the adhesive seems hit or miss for how well it secures the shade to the top of window frame. I had one falling down from the top every single day (after it was up for about 3 days). I would put it back up and press the adhesive lined pleat back in place, only to have it be back on the bottom of window in the morning. It is also horrible how the bottom pleat of shade is attached to the bottom bar, as just simply pulling them down a few times has lifted the adhesive attach points from where and how it is attached to that bar. It is the same on all of the shades - even the shorter ones. Just look at the video and photos and you can see how cheaply and poorly designed these are. And, contrary to some reviewers saying that the shades operate effortlessly mine do not. All of them have significant drag/friction in the mechanism as you pull down, and it really stresses the cords and the adhesive - as well as the cheap flimsy plastic the lower bar is made of. Other issues: As others have mentioned, the shades will not open or close to level (at least the longer ones do that for me). One side is always lower - sometimes significantly than the other in both up and down positions. Yes, I can frustratingly play with it for a while and get it about right, but it is not easy and I am very mechanically inclined. Honestly I shouldn't have to fight with these at all just to use them as designed. The instructions say that this problem is caused when the cord tension becomes unbalanced, and how to fix, but I can say that the fix does not work for this inherent issue. This is less of a problem on the shorter ones. The longer shades WILL NOT retract smoothly and evenly. They start to in the beginning, but about two thirds of the way up or so, they no longer have tension and bunch up. You have to struggle with multiple attempts to get them all the way up and they usually will not be straight when finished. Another example of a fault in the design of the mechanism. Lastly, the one in the photo that shows the shade that kept falling to the bottom because of poor adhesion (my surface was prepped clean and not the problem) just tonight permanently failed when the left side cord just broke while it was being pulled down. These shades are operated carefully, so this should not have happened a month and a half from installation, but seeing there is so much tension and resistance when you pull them down, I am not surprised. Again - look a the video and you can see the tension. Not one of mine operate smoothly and easily, and I can assure anyone that they are indeed installed properly. Well, that about wraps up this review. I cannot believe that many of these reviews are authentic, as they give such glowing accounts of how great this product is. That fact is that they are cheaply made, have a bad extension and retraction mechanism design, and just all around do not live up to the hype. I understand they are an approximate $30-$50 product and not the same caliber of product as something that cost 2-4 times their cost, but these should be much better than they are. For all these reasons I cannot recommend them at all. Sorry Redi Shade - you need to rethink/redesign this product and do better. Your customers should not be experiencing these common faults without you doing something to correct. I believe you have been in business for a good while, so no excuse to have this crappy of a product - or perhaps this level of quality control problem seeing that there are a good number of people who don't seem to have any issues.

These shades are awesome! Not perfect, but if you balance the cost against the quality you get awesome. They look terrific, not cheap at all and at the same time the shade material is extremely tough; you can’t tear it. The plastic trim is properly sized and feels comfortable in your hand when raising and lowering the shade but not so large as to diminish the appearance. The plastic material itself is a weak point, treat it like egg shells. I initially ordered just one shade to check it out and it came damaged, the plastic dented and cracked during shipping. Exchanged that one and ordered three new and while cutting one of them I was a little too aggressive and impatient and cracked the end. The crack is not noticeable nor should it affect the integrity of the shade but it speaks of the fragile nature of the material. Once the shade is mounted, I don’t think it’s a concern unless your dog is trying to chase a squirrel on the other side of the window. In the photo, the right window shade is fully retracted and practically disappears. It helps that the window trim is also white but nobody would notice the shades unless you’re looking for them. It doesn’t seem to matter which way you mount them but I chose to mount them with the top pleat open towards the room in case I wanted to add a screw or staple in the event the sticky tape failed. Yes, the trimming of the shades is a little awkward and requires patience and a little finesse. Like another reviewer, I ended up using a hacksaw blade to get through the plastic and a steak knife through the fabric. The saw requires a light touch so as not to catch a sawtooth on the plastic and crack it. So at this point I’ll stick with five bold stars and hope that the mechanism for raising and lowering the shade holds up so I can continue to admire these awesome shades. The design really hit a sweet spot among quality, appearance and cost. Congratulations to the designers.

I’ve had my other redi-shades hanging on windows for nearly 2 years and they’re still working perfectly. This one came yesterday, I hung it up today and about 35 mins later, the blind itself detaches from the frame it’s glued into at the top (I assume it was glued?) and comes crashing down!! 🤯 I already attached (and gorilla glued) the shades to my window frame so no way to remove it and send back for an exchange. I see no option to contact the seller so I’ll try to call Amazon and see if they could help get a replacement. $40+ is not cheap for temporary blinds!! UPDATE 7/28/23: contacted Amazon and they issued a refund right away, so I added two stars for Amazon’s customer service 🙂 (love being a prime member!) I’m thinking the adhesive used when these Redi Shade blinds were assembled (a very long time ago) simply evaporated. I gorilla glued it back together so we’ll see how long that holds up (see pic #3 for reference). Aside from this unfortunate situation, the Redi Shade blinds are an awesome concept and really do a fantastic job in terms of privacy. I do wish they were not so transparent - I put another set of those temporary paper blinds underneath the Redi Shade on some of my other windows to keep the amount of sun filtering through at a comfortable level. (see pic #4 for reference with beige blinds) If you get a functioning set, these are definitely worth it. The minimal amount of effort it generally takes to put these up and ease of control was the decision maker for me when I purchased my first set several years ago. I recommend!

Exact fit , no need to trim, peel and stick , perfect to block the bright early morning sun in our Florida room for a few hours .

I absolutely love these easy to install shades! They replaced some very old vertical blinds and the pleated shades give my windows an elegant look, while being very functional. They block the sun, but are thin enough to allow the light to filter through. It's so easy to draw and lift the shades by hand without the use of cords. They are sturdy and easy to install - no tools needed unless you have to cut the shades down. First of all, there are a couple of ways to install the shades. On the first set of three windows, I installed them inside the window frames with the use of the adhesive tape, located at the top, and they were sized perfectly. The other set of two windows were slightly larger, so I had to purchase larger shades that had to be cut down in order to fit inside the frames. It turns out that I didn't cut the first shade quite enough to fit inside the frame and rather than to try to shave a quarter of an inch, I decided to install them over the window frame. For the second window, I installed outside the frame without trimming and it fit perfectly. So, one of the shades shows a slight gap when you look at it from the side, but it still looks good. For uniformity, it's better to trim equal amounts on each end of the shade. There are very thin cords inserted into the pleats and the measurements would definitely be off if the shade is trimmed on one side only. I used a cheap fine tooth saw to trim one end of the shade and the teeth quickly ground down to nothing. I found another old saw for the other end of the shade and both cut pretty well, although it was not super smooth. The caps are removable and snap onto the cut end very easily. Cutting takes a little trial and error; just measure well (there is a little ruler at the top), have a variety of cutting implements and take your time. I've looked at very expensive shades and I think these are very comparable. I love the color too.

Sorry to say these blinds are horrible. I should have returned them earlier. They are always ganging lopsided. Look awful. Now they will not go up at all. So diappointed. I will not be ordering these again. Too late to get a refund

I read all the reviews very thoroughly before ordering this blind and decided to listen to the good reviews and take the bad with a grain of salt and I am very glad I did!! I am so impressed! The hardest part was cutting the blind to the right size and honestly, if I had used a sharper knife it would have been a breeze. Even without the perfect knife was still pretty easy and only took a few minutes to cut it down to the length. The built on measuring tape was very helpful and once the blind was the right length, the actual install took a few seconds. I took the time to clean the top of my windowsill and stuck it on securely and easily. It’s been a couple of weeks now with absolutely no issues. The blind is straight and goes up and down smoothly. Just as important, it looks great! It lets in some light without being either too bright or dark. I will definitely be ordering more!!

I searched and found the most conveniently structured and eye catching pull down blind here on Amazon. It took a matter of minutes to cut to length and install… and it looks great! Highly recommend this design.
