I bought this for a car camping trip. I had a friend’s bf install it. I had to find a YouTube video to figure it out, instructions weren’t super helpful. As others have stated, the included hardware isn’t all you’ll need. I had a friend help me set it up and break it down twice, then had no problem doing it myself after a few tries. It looks cool and is well made. The material seems durable and the Velcro isn’t f’ing around! It’s pretty lightweight and I loved that it comes with a bag attached for storage. It perfectly fit over the passenger door and takes up zero space to store. I added a few outdoor area rugs (which helped me set it up and break it down) and it was perfect! The pre drilled holes make it easy to know where to fit the poles. This helped make my first solo trip a success!

Amazing! I have gone to the same beach for 20 years. Out of all the normal canopies, this one was by far the best. It takes up no room inside vehicle when traveling. Takes less than 5 minutes to set up and take down. Youtube the installation and it should take 30 minutes or less to install. It’s always windy as heck and my canopies end up destroyed. Not this one. It was a champ in the wind too! Best camping purchase ever!

Updates below original review form July 2021. I looked at a lot of awnings. Most are overpriced and the cheapest tend to fail. I ended up with this one mainly for one reason, the pole hinges at the top are metal. This is the most common failure point on the super cheap ones. And so far its been holding up, even with winter camping. The only issue is the poles are a bit sloppy. The black plastic cubes, which are designed to keep the polls in the tracks when stored and not banging around, simply slide down too easily. And the plastic feet should be barbed inserts, not caps - they fall off. But overall, works find and its been holding up well. Update on original awning, reviewed above: I can say that over the four years I used it there was never a major issue. It held up well! I had cleaned it last year and re-water proofed it. This is expected after all those years. Cleaned up well, dirtier than expected. I did end up with some small stress holes at the Velcro but I bought some "Gheeidau Canvas Repair Patch 9×11 Inch 3Pcs Waterproof Self-Adhesive (Beige)" and stuck them on top over the Velcro before resealing with water proofing. Worked great! Sadly this awning will be retired. This week, Sept 2025, a new larger (6.6x8.2) All-Top awning arrived with their awning room. While the new awning is only a couple feet wide in both directions, it seems so much larger. I originally wanted the smaller one for quick setups with a small footprint. So part of me is not too keen on this larger one. But I also have some concerns. I bought the original smaller one for one big reason, metal pole hinges. They appear to have gone away with those and went with plastic like most every other cheap brand. I also do not at all care for the little bit of bright orange. I liked the boring plan look of the original which blended in with nature just a little more. Personal opinion though. The new one had all black coated metal which looks nice. I fear that over time it could flake off showing the bright aluminum under, especially if the aluminum starts to corrode a little from getting wet. I also do worry about rain and snow build up. While not used with the awning room it will be easy to give some tilt to it, the awning room will not allow much at all. I may have to get some extra poles for the sides and maybe make some sorta cross bars to keep the middle from collecting too much rain. Also my awning came damaged. Nothing that will affect how it works, but that bit was sad. Did not notice until it was installed and then rolled out. The hardware kit was missing too! But since I was replacing my old awning I just used the original stuff. We shall see if this one holds up just as well.

Worked great on my Rav4, just can’t wait the go camping now, the hardware is strong and even comes with a couple of nice wrenches for the installation…

Had a same size awning from one of the big name companies that damaged itself in the wind. My fault for not tying it down, but it folded up and bent two of the poles badly enough I couldn't straighten them. Bought this awning for $180 less then the name brand awning to steal parts off of to repair the other awning and was surprised to find this is a better built and nicer all-around awning. Heavy fabric, INCLUDED mounting kit (name brand was $70 for mounts) anodized poles and brackets instead of raw aluminum. Name brand awning is now on the shelf for parts.

I always read the negative reviews first, and initially I was hesitant, but the install was simple, feels solid on my truck bed rack, the poles don't feel flimsy like some said,they work like curtain poles, extend and twist to tighen.

So this was easy to install. The legs and upper support pieces adjust by pulling them out to the desired length then twisting the "coupler" to tighten. The problem is, at least on mine, none of would tighten. When I took them apart, the plastic pieces inside were broken... on all four supports. I was able to duct tape them in place while on my trip, which worked but I will probably end up drilling holes through the poles and use cotter pins to hold them in place. Too much of a hassle to remove and return and I think this will be an easy fix.

It’s a great Awning for the price. So in some of the other reviews, there are a lot of complaints about the mounting hardware. It is impossible for these products to be one size fits all. It’s going to be a project. It take planning and imagination. That’s the fun part. Or it’s going to take money to pay someone to install it.
