Upgrading vehicle's exhaust system is a great way to build horsepower, free up trapped torque, and improve upon restrictive factory systems. The larger pipes, low-restriction mufflers, and tuned resonators of a well-designed performance exhaust system can make a world of difference on your vehicle. The net result is lower auto exhaust backpressure, more horsepower, more torque, and a much better sound.

So far, so good. Sounds good, probably not too loud for California
(review for beginners)Removing the old system. All necessary gaskets/hardware was included.I have a 120v DeWalt 1/2" Impact Driver. This always comes in handy for this kind of job with rusty hardware. The HARDEST part of this whole deal will be removing the back half of the old system. It may be easier to do in a lift but I dropped the 4 bolts holding the suspension in place without letting them come all the way out and took the rear passenger tire off.Other than that EVERYTHING WAS A BREEZE. Getting the rear 3rd in was much easier! From there, I bolted up the middle piece no problem. Gasket fitment on the catalytic converter was a minor problem, I simply used some tin snips to cut one of the holes.I had to loosen up the heat shield on the cat to get the rest of the is system off.(sound/ performance and fit)Not too loud even revving up to 5,500. The OBD CPU will have to adjust so the jury will be out for a days. I drive for optimum mpg so I'll follow up if it improves.(FINAL)The system looks much better than my tired factory exhaust did. My car is a 5 speed manual, honestly getting out of 1st with a whisper quiet exhaust is tedious especially since this is 1 of 4 stick shift cars I drive.I honestly think I'm going to be a lot happier with this car's new setup

Did you fart? It wasn't me.
Overall it was an easy install. Slight customization needed on a hangar near the bend because it was going to rattle against it. Took the foam packaging and zip ties around the hangar and problem solved. You may need to bend the heat shield over the same bend at the connector. It is so wide that it slightly touches the heat shield on the edges and would no doubt rattle. I just widened the heat shield with pliers.Good sound on VQ. Deep throaty intimidating sound, not farty or whiney. From 30-45mph on local streets and depending on your driving habits you can have constant drone (automatic tranny). From 45mph and up it's fairly quiet, especially on the highway. There is a silencer if you decide that's what you need.Overall, good purchase.

Great exhaust... no hardware included
Seems okay so far! I like the diameter of the pipe! If you are installing yourself, you are going to face some obstacles with the heat shields(which are easy to bend) and the rear passenger suspension on the rear section. I only rate it 4 stars because all these reviews I’ve read before making the purchase made it seem like the appropriate gaskets and hardware would be included in the package... but in my pictures I circled in red where I had to buy my own gaskets, 3 pairs of nuts, bolts, and washers. Not a big deal in the bigger picture, however was an inconvenience nonetheless. My local auto store did not have the best prices on quality gaskets, but I got them and ended up installing a quality product overall. I also replaced other parts of my exhaust towards the manifold, and the finished product resulted in a heartier sound, freeing of trapped power on the bottom end, and what seems like better mpgs when I take it easy! I would recommend to people like me that live in winter states that take a toll on an underbody of a vehicle. My exhaust was completely rusted through, and this product has satisfied my needs!

Looks and sounds good
This system it's not a perfect fit because of the resonator section being two sections now. There is a bit of interference with the heat shield. But it looks good and sounds really good (not like an annoying Honda sound), and it's not loud.Other then that I like it because I don't have to replace it anymore, like the factory system that I was replacing every 3 years.

Will not work with federal emissions system maximas
I wish the people who manufactured this exhaust did some research, if your maxima has the federal emissions system you will have to bypass the post cat o2 sensor an absolute headache having to now weld a new mount for the o2 sensor horrible experience.

So far.. So good!
I have a 2000 Maxima. Removal of the old system was easy and installation of the new system was believe it or not... Easier!I believe having a professional lift like a real shops have would have saved me from having to loosen the 5(6?) suspension bolts(2nd picture) on the passenger side. Even after I took the rear passenger tire off, I just couldn't get the old muffler out. Long story short.. If you can change your oil, you can do this, just take your time and be safe. The kit comes with all the hardware and gaskets you'll need. I had to trim the bolt hole on one gasket to get it to fit. I just used some tin snips. No biggie. Most people I'm sure would rather know about power gains, well it seems more responsive but I'm actually a lot more interested in improving my gas mileage.I've driven 600 miles since the change and... eh, my gas mileage is about the same. I also run TORQUE on my stereo, I mentioning that because while I'm on the freeway with the cruise control in use on flat ground with no one around me I can see the INSTANT MPG fluctuating +/- 4mpg. My guess is that the OBDII Computer may still be adjusting to the exhaust system. One thing that definitely helps is being able to hear the exhaust. All my cars have manual transmission and with the stock system in place the Maxima was by far the quietest. Being able to hear the exhaust helps me with the smoothness of my clutch releases and that alone was worth the money and doing the work. The car is a LOT more fun to drive even if I'm usually maxxing the revs out at 2,800 :P

Highly recommend
Sounds great comes with all the hardware. Getting the old system off was a bit of a prick and the only thing is is I had to remove the piece of pipe that the 02 sensor goes in so I had to get rid of it but I haven’t got a check engine light as of yet but other then that it was easy to install all the holes lined up and I had to unbolt the rear subframe to get the muffler to clear other then that bolts right up I would highly recommend this cat back

03 maxima cat back exhast
Good quality, did the install myself, good fit only had to ajust one heat shield, looks great, no rattles or movement. Uses existing mounts. Piping fits well and car gained some power. Sound is loud and drones on hwy, will have to change to a quieter muffler but piping is great.
