Absolutely. My five year old has dexterity issues, he's in OT, and this is great practice! It's not just okay, it's helpful. Just let him stop when he gets frustrated...take a week instead of an hour to make a potholder. I bought this after our plastic one broke, it's sturdier and the colors are more attractive. Oh, and you might need to do the final step for him, but that's quick.

Yes, it comes with a crochet hook, as well as a metal loop hook that spans the whole loom.

They've been in business in a tiny town in New Hampshire since 1794. family owned, really neat business. Everything is made in the USA.

Q: What is the loom made of, plastic or metal?

heavy guage metal....seems really well made. My daughter has had hers for 6 years and it is like new!
