Good Night Vision but IR lights cause Flash Bursts
Having bought both the Yi 1080p camera and the Yi Camera 3 (both perform virtually the same; the Camera 3 has a magnet beneath its base), I decided that the pan/tilt feature of the dome camera would be convenient. The one thing that stood out about the Dome camera was that the IR sensors were sensitive to reflective objects. As a result, the IR lights would suddenly turn on and then dim down causing flash bursts in the image. Not a big deal for me but I had read some complaints about it.Several months after I purchased the first Dome camera, I bought another one to place in front of my living room window (indoors facing outside). The one thing that became apparent was that the camera had excellent night vision without going into night vision mode. So the image showed in color with only one street lamp turned on outside. To illustrate, I included two photos taken at the same time. The colored photo is from the Dome camera; the black and white one is from the 1080p camera. The other difference between the two cameras is the view range. The 1080p has a slightly wider view range. The one major complaint I have about the Dome camera is that it does not have a zoom feature as stated in the product description. Yes, you can zoom in on an image, but that is not a feature of the camera but rather a feature of the phone by expanding the image on the screen with the swipe of your fingers. All cameras let you do that but you get a pixilated image when you zoom too close. Since the dome camera does not have a telescopic lens, you cannot really zoom in on anything. So, if you are using the PC app, which does not have a zoom feature, you cannot zoom in on an object.
