Good book with complicate language
Book is good but it's writing is very complicated to understand. But if reader reads the book carefully, it will teach some valuable lessons.

Lengthy Intro, short biography
A short commentary on the historical life of Buddha, as well as an overview if Buddhist thought - including tolerance, peace, benevolence, a brotherhood of all men. Against that backdrop are also balance, detachment, concepts of an illusory world and self-control and self-purification. Olcott was a theosophist, so the book reflects that worldview. Nevertheless, it is a classic and interesting work on the life and teachings of one of the great teachers of all time.

Hello, i have a kindle bought from Germany(1.5 months back). I can see some points(less than 1mm) on the screen where i can see bright light. I am unaware how it happened (My knindle is very new and have not been used for an hour).I had a call with Kindle support team and they said this has been out of India they cannot help me(They have said that they have intimated German team but i didnt received any E-Mails or call). Also, team has said me to reduce the brightness and use(it works for now). What should i do now(My mind gets diverted)?Any reply will be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Reading this book directly is better than reading it in device
This is book is good one but I think reading this book in electronic devices is not seems me satisfied as I read the book on my hand. it is better to read book directly than reading the book in the devices.author in this book explains in a very good understanding manner to all the every one who is able to read and understand.language of the book is easy to understand.the only thing I am not satisfied with this is reading it in device.

Not quite what I expected
This was more of an expository on how wonderful it is to be Buddhist rather than Christian than a book detailing the life of Buddha. And the lessons were obscure to the point I was hoping for a list or arrows to guide me.The manner of writing was pure hyperbole. The book was uncomfortable to read and the language too archaic for this reader. That will teach me to pick up some "light reading" from a bygone era (century).I'm still in the dark about Buddha and will need to seek further enlightenment.

Well Written
Well written and quite informative. A joy to read and contemplate. Although it is a pretty hard sell of the author's items for daily meditation it provokes critical thought. For those who do not have the natural ability to enjoy the struggles life provides it is a good vehicle to seek to escape daily lose-lose and start the journey to ultimate spiritual peace.Meditating on the author's viewpoint I came the realization that some of us found that "ultimate spiritual peace" rather boring and instead we live each moment as the gift it is rather than a burden of cycle of endless suffering. Living with integrity, honor, and responsibility doesn't imply the need to reverse bad karma but rather the conscious choice to live as a personal choice rather a life prescribed by others.

Simple and deeply thought provoking
This is perhaps the best book I'll ever read , it's most certainly the greatest I've read so far in my 63 years of age .It seems to be the background musings and interpretations of life for all religions. I'm the original anti religion guy , I totally abhor the concept of organised religious control by some twerp who claims to be able to see the kings fine clothes. Which is a childrens story about idiots conning idiots till a child comes along and says get real ...stop lying , there is nothing there . This book contains some of the concepts & principles that have brought man from being a fierce caveman into being able to live together in communities that help support each other to the common good . It's the one thing that not only stands the test of time , nothing better has been invented to better it.You don't need religion to practice these concepts either , I've been a caveman practicing them and didn't realize it .Now thanks to the author you too can develop you mind and heart.

Very small lessons, but very intersting. But it is a start to get to know Buddhisam. Thanks for the free offer.
