This sidter really does help keep clumps out of the matcha tea. It made more of a difference than I expected. Good quality as well.

The packaging does not look like the bogus pictures in the Amazon product description
Although the product falsely claims "This is a Marukyu Koyamaen product manufactured by AOYAMA of Japan", it is really just a flimsy knock-off "Casual Product" brand made in China by Aoyoshi Co Ltd. The packaging does not look like the bogus pictures in the Amazon product description, and it looks like a medium mesh instead of the fine mess I expected for straining matcha tea powder. I'll try to use it until I can find a real fine mesh strainer, but I guess I should have been suspicious of a low price for something claiming to be so widely used in Japan. Maybe I should just toss it in the Goodwill bag. The company should be honest in what it is selling, since a cheap medium mesh strainer may be OK for certain applications some folks might need. But I was looking for a product that matched this description, not what they shipped me instead.

Nice
Nice strainer. As described and sturdy

Surprisingly strong
EDIT 12/15/19: I've been using it for just over a year now and it just broke where the handle connects with the basket rim. It's really not surprising with as hard as I tap the handle and with the weld/rivet points being so tiny. Will probably just order another one instead of trying to find a way to fix it. I got this to strain out coffee grounds and it works perfectly. When I use my single-cup coffee brewer I often end up with stray coffee grounds in my finished/brewed cup, which I dislike. This strainer rests on the top of my cup perfectly and keeps all of those loose grind pieces from going in my cuppa. I expected the strainer to be very fragile and bend/break easily, but it is astonishingly strong. After use, I smack "basket" rim against the side of the sink to dislodge the grounds, give it a good rinse, then smack the rim and then the handle (up near the mesh part) it a few more times against the sink edge to knock off the excess water. I'm am very impressed that the handle and frame have not broken, dented, bent or warped in any way and the mesh is still firmly held in place.

Very cheap construction; not worth the money
I just received this in the mail. First of all, it arrived with the mesh pushed in. I managed to push the mesh back to its original shape. However, this looks really cheap, like something that I would buy for $2 at Daiso (a Japanese dollar store equivalent). The metal handle and rim look really cheap and easily bendable and the spoon that it comes with is just cheap plastic. Definitely not worth almost $12. The only saving grace is that the mesh is very fine and probably works well for matcha, except that the mesh looks flimsy, so I am not sure that it would stand up to a spoon pressing the matcha powder through it.

Made in China
I should have read more carefully. The description is deceptive: “This is a Marukyu Koyamaen product manufactured by AOYOSHI of Japan.” I thought this was made in Japan but it’s made in China and feels rather light and flimsy. Definitely way too expensive; looks like something you can find at the 99 cent store. What a ripoff.
