Great medium-sized, frugal slow cooker! Perfect for smaller families, homemade meals!
I LOVE this little slow cooker. I actually currently have two in this size, a black one and a red one. I keep the black one on my counter because it matches my other kitchen appliances. I am somewhat of a slow cooker junkie because I've been writing a gluten free slow cooker cookbook the past 6 months. I started out with two "crock pot" brand slow cookers and they have been fantastic. One was a gift and I've had it since I graduated from college over 11 years ago, it's actually a large 6 quart programmable from "crock pot" and it works like a charm... BUT this smaller version works better for my everyday slow cooking needs. Some people have complained that there is not a difference in the cooking temperature between low and high, but I can definitely tell a huge difference. I've used this slow cooker to test over 200 recipes in the past 6 months and I've NEVER had a problem with it. The ONLY two things i would change is that it would be nice to have a programmable one in this size, and it would be nice to have an indicator light to show that the appliance is on. Other than that, I love this little cooker. I actually LIKE that it cooks hotter than older models from years past. I can cook a roast to medium rare in about 2 hours on high and be able to make dinner when I get home from work. BUT if I need it to cook longer, I use the low setting for 4-6 hours for the same recipe. You definitely DON'T need to cook things like chicken breasts for more than about 6-7 hours on low or they will be overcooked. If you start foods from frozen, you can use the traditional longer cooking periods. I love this little slow cooker and I think it's at a BARGAIN price. When I bought it, it was on sale for $15.99 on amazon, and if you continually check back they often have them for a great sale price. I have used mine for over two years and I use them on an almost daily basis and I've never had a problem with them. Great product!

Great little crockpot!
This is a really great little crock-pot! I'm single and living on my own, and I'm a student who also works full-time, so spending a lot of time cooking is really hard. Still, ramen or take out every day isn't exactly healthy or satisfying (and the latter is way expensive). This is just the right size to cook a meal with enough leftovers for a couple of days for one person, or a meal for a few when I have friends over. It does seem to run a little hotter than I expected, meaning that sometimes my food will be done before the recipe says it should be. Still, this isn't really a problem as most slow-cooker recipes are built for that kind of thing and can stand up to sitting around a little while and getting more delicious! :9 Cook a couple of no-brainers to get yourself used to it before you do any important cooking if you're worried, but it shouldn't really be a problem. Slow cooker recipes tend to be more or less fool-proof (which is good for me, as I'm still learning the ins and outs of cooking). The insert is dishwasher safe, which is a big plus, too! TL;DR: It's an inexpensive way to have home cooked, healthy meals, even if you don't have time to stand around cooking - or you're not a cook yourself! Nothing beats coming home from a long day to an apartment or house that smells like dinner. Five stars for sure! EDIT: I browsed the other reviews and feel like I should mention: I haven't had a problem with any of my food drying up, but as I and others have said it DOES run hot, so YMMV - And I have burned myself more than once (though I'll admit to being clumsy)! Be careful! Use a hot pad when lifting the lid to stir or add anything, and don't touch the outside. I wouldn't take this crock pot anywhere, as the lid doesn't clamp down and it does get so hot on the outside. Best for at-home use.

Great Cooker
I dont understand where all of these negative reviews are comming from. The reviews for this exact same cooker on target.com is completly oposite. Very few negatives, that is why I elected to buy it. I am kind of a crock post coniseur. All winter long my wife and I cook all sorts of things in them. This one is the perfect size for certain creations. Rival slow cookers "crock-pots" are the best, they should be they invented them. This one is no different. The temp is just perfect on low and high. I have use serveral hamilton beach cookers and they are always to hot. The lid fits in a nice shallow indentation I have never had problems with any crock-pot leaking water from under the lid, this one is perfect. The sides get warm but they do on any slow cooker I have ever used. Not to the point I would worry about leaving home while it is cooking. I would recommend this to anyone, and it works perfectly.

First time using ...
I've had a bad flu, haven't been able to cook much and was looking for a cooking helper. Found this crock pot and the price was good. There are only 2 of us so we only needed 4-quarts. I have chicken soup cooking in it now. 1. No indicator lights to show it is on. There is only a knob to turn - left is low - up is high - right is warm. 2. There are no problems with the lid fitting and the crock isn't too shallow for the lid as some stated. 3. The color is deep and lovely ... not really that much difference in color on the parts - sure, plastic and metal color differently. 4. If I had designed a feature, I would have used 6 feet to steady it instead of 4. It can be a little wobbly if you move it. 5. I filled the water to 3/4 way up the crock and there isn't any bubble-over of liquid from the chicken soup - it's been cooking 3 hours on high with hot water to start it. 6. The ceramic pot comes out of the cooker so you can wash or store in the fridge easily. ETA: After reading about food spilling over the edge or liquid sputtering out from some reviewers-my advice would be to Not Over-fill your crock! It is 4-quarts but you will only be using about 3-quarts of it. The picture that is shown here is NOT how to fill it, leave cooking space! So far, so good. I will report back after using it for awhile. In store for this week will be: pot roast with carrots, onions, potatoes - chili with beans - pasta sauce. 2 days later: Last night I put large chunks of 3 potatoes in the bottom of the crock. In a cast-iron pan I browned 1-1/2 pounds of ground beef with a large diced onion. Put the cooked meat and onions over the potatoes. Added 1 can of Manwich Sloppy Joe sauce over it and a splash of water in the can to get all the sauce out and poured it on top of the meat, I didn't stir it in. Set on High for about 4 hours (I had fallen asleep) and when I looked the potatoes were soft and it was ready. No burning at all. Tonight I made Chicken and Dumplings. Browned 4 skinless chicken thighs in a pan, added them to the crock. Browned a large diced onion in the pan and sliced carrot and added that to the crock. Added a bit of water to the pan to get the drippings up and poured that into the crock. Added a sliced celery rib and water to just cover and cooked on high about 3 hours. Took out the chicken and put in dumplings made from Bisquick (cheddar and garlic flavor) and cooked on high about 40 minutes (I had forgotten it). The dumplings made a thick gravy so it was like a chicken stew...added the chicken off the bone back in and served. No burning or sticking. I am using this as I would a pot on the stove. I haven't used low to cook so can't tell you if it's something you can set and come home 12 hours later and have a good meal. I will try it one day and report back on it. **** My one tip would be: Always Brown Your Meat in a pan on the stove BEFORE adding it to the crock pot, it will make a world of difference on the flavor - it won't have that boiled, dull taste that we remembered from our past. I also like to brown the onion and carrot if I'm using it, as well. 8/14/2015 ... back for another one. The crock broke. I picked up the black since it was cheaper than the other colors. I have pinto beans cooking in it now. Added cleaned beans and water, turned to warm a couple hours, turned off to cool down so I can dump that water and put fresh water in. Will cook on low over night. In the morning I'll add some browned chorizo, crisp bacon, diced and a can of tomatoes, jalapenos and season, cook a few more hours. A nice pot of cowboy beans for dinner, awaits.

My New Go To Manual Slow Cooker
This is one of those little show offs that every household should have, even though most already have one. From before Thanksgiving and through Christmas and into the New Year this little gem gave me lots of super meals. No failures ( a cook's nightmare ), no dissatisfied guests and oh so easy to clean and use again, soon. I consider Crock Pot to be my go to brand for this type of cookware and it is obvious that they put all the finishing touches in each of their pots. There may be some negative aspects of this pot; however, they are hiding in such a manner that I will never find them. It would be safe for me to say, it's perfect.

Really easy meal prep
I have never personally owned a crock pot before but this has been great. My roommate had a different brand crock pot for a long time and it never cooked her food, even if she followed all the directions and cooked it even longer than required by the recipe. I have never had this problem with this crock pot. I've made about five or six meals in it and it has been so easy to just throw things in and let it sit while I work. Things have ended up a little dry because I let them sit on warm for a long time before eating them but other than that I have no complaints. For anyone like me who hasn't used one before, I highly suggest following recipes at first. When I follow recipes everything is super flavorful and great but when I tried to just throw stuff in I ended up not putting enough seasonings or sauces and it ended up tasteless.

Exactly what I was looking for!
I was looking for a basic crock pot, no bells and whistles necessary, and got exactly what I was looking for! I love the color, it's just the right size - not too big, not too little, easy to clean, cooks relatively quickly compared to my old crock pots, and a good value for the money. It does sputter/splash a little sometimes,as someone else mentioned, but I have several other crock pots of various styles, brands and sizes, and they do the same thing. When I use a crock pot liner bag, there's no sputtering at all. Good item, good quality.

I have already used it and it works fine. It's not huge but for two people here
I have already used it and it works fine. It's not huge but for two people here, it's fine. I read others say that high is very hot, so I really slow cooked it mostly on low.....was on all night and all day, haha. When i need a meal quicker, I will do it on high mostly. But low works great. I had occasionally bumped it up on high to help it move a little quicker. But I like it so far. Simple crock pot. Bells and whistles usually end up costing you alot and breaking down quicker. My last crock pot by Rival lasted 24 years and it was simple!

Horrible
Guys be careful when you buy this. I live in the Middle East and the product they sent to me had the American plug. It worked the first time, so I threw the box, the second time the plug fried and would not return without the box

Don't buy in India!!
This product should NOT be used in India. The 1st one arrived damaged and did not work at all. Amazon promptly replaced it. It took me a while to get time to use it again, but when I did make a nice soup--I set it on low temp so I could cook for several hours. It worked for about 4 hours and then the heating unit went out. It has never worked again. I still have my original box and packing it came in and would like to return it for a credit.

Great value for the price. From order time to delivery/parcel arrival was very quick! Is a staple in our family household. High setting is quite high, mostly use low temperature setting.
