This is another of those tools that I struggled with trying to decide if I really needed it. After the weakness in my hands prevented me from setting stones cleanly, I knew I needed to do something. After about 10 seconds of using this tool, I knew I made the right decision! Not much of a learning curve involved to use it. Fits very nicely in my hand! The only little problem I have is speed. I wish there was some way to power down the flexshaft motor so I could keep the hammer at a slower speed. That foot pedal is hard to keep steady at the extremely low speed you need to maintain. I honestly believe this tool would be useful to anyone who sets stones. I absolutely love mine!

I purchased the Prodigy flexshaft a few years ago before I started making jewelry. I didn't want to buy a new flexshaft to set stones in my bezels so I hoped this would work... and it does. I have a variable speed controller and set it to 15 percent. The Prodigy can run at 20,000 rpm and this handpiece should not be used at more than 5,000 rpm. It works really well at about 15 percent power.

I have to say I made definitely a great choice when buying one of these. I don't use it for jewelry stone setting, I mainly use it for making a different kind of texture on different metals. This item must be used in conjunction with a foredom speed regulator to prevent damage. I own one of the strong motor shaft motors. Foredom is definitely in the high price range, but well worth it. I LOVE IT

Arrived quickly. It makes stone setting so much easier due to a rotator cuff injury. Now I can set stones quicker. Also will texture. You must buy the bits though.
