Excellent. Tool less installation and very lightweight
I had an older 500GB hard drive lying around unused and hence I thought I'd use that for external storage. There are no instructions with this device, hence I figured it out after a while how to get into it.You have to slide the panel, not pull. Hold the thing in your palm and with another palm grip and slide it, That should open up the panel and after that you can easily install a 2.5inch SATA drive like you normally would on a laptop. The only con was that after installing the hard drive, the hard drive was a little loose inside. I folded a tissue paper and filled the empty space with it and now it's extremely stable. It's extremely lightweight and it's the only budget enclosure I am able to find with USB C and I'm glad to report that it works flawlessly with my M1 Macbook Pro.I am unfortunately unable to test speeds on this since I am using a 10 year old 5000 rpm HGST drive with it (so old that the company doesn't even exist anymore), hence speed tests can't yield anything good out of it.All been said, I'm gladly surprised by the device, especially because how simple and lightweight it is. It's definitely more cost effective to find an older hard drive if you have one and put it into this case than pay 5k for a new external one.Great product, will gladly recommend.

Great product but USB 3.0 not 3.1
The product is great, works well and provides good transfer speed. but its USB 3.0 instead of 3.1 as advertised. still decent speeds.I don't have a prob because I'm using an HDD with the case so 3.0 is still fine, but if you're willing to use It with faster SSDs, go with USB 3.1 with a type c port as it will give you maximum transfer rateThe outer body is completely plastic, it would have felt better if it had some rubberized texture. Overall 4.5 out of 5

Compact, Reliable, and Fast – Excellent for External Storage
I recently bought the ORICO 2.5 Type C Enclosure to use with a spare SATA hard drive, and it has exceeded my expectations. The build quality is solid yet lightweight, making it extremely portable. The Type C connection is a major plus, allowing for fast data transfer speeds when connected to USB 3.1 devices, which is great for quick backups or moving large files.Setting up the hard drive in the enclosure was straightforward, and the tool-free design made installation a breeze. I’ve used it with both SSDs and HDDs, and the performance has been smooth with no issues. The data transfer speeds are fast, and there’s no lag or overheating during extended use.The sleek design makes it easy to carry around, and the enclosure’s durability ensures that my hard drive stays protected when on the go. Whether you're looking to repurpose an old drive or need extra storage space, this enclosure offers a perfect solution.Overall, this is a reliable, well-built, and affordable external enclosure. Highly recommended for anyone needing extra portable storage!

Go for it if you are using SSD. Macbook M1 working.
I was very skeptical at first. I have used a Samsung 850 EVO 250GB. Plugged in at USB 3.2 Gen 2, the port on the back of my Mobo.I am getting the speeds you can check on Image.Type C is a Bliss. Working fine with Macbook Air M1. Fully Satisfied @ 970 INR.

Nice product except,
So, I had a SSD which was idle, so I bought this enclosure to make use of it. Transfer and Copy speeds were just okay and the reason why I am giving it 3 Stars is because the cable which was provided in box was folded so tightly that it is not working properly and that made me buy another cable. Also, because the cover was made up of cheap plastic. So, this product is just okay and not the best of enclosures.

Disappointing Purchase - Poor Build Quality and Misleading Appearance
The media could not be loaded. My experience with the ORICO 2.5-inch Hard Drive Enclosure has been thoroughly disappointing. Despite the affordable price, the overall build quality and appearance were far below my expectations. The plastic material felt flimsy, giving the product a cheap and unreliable look.Additionally, both the device and data cable were noticeably of substandard quality, failing to inspire any confidence in their durability. I was taken aback by the striking difference between the product's actual appearance and the sleek look displayed on the Amazon website. This disconnect between expectation and reality left me feeling misled and dissatisfied.Overall, this purchase turned out to be a regrettable investment. I cannot recommend this product, especially to those seeking a durable and visually appealing hard drive enclosure.

Depends on your use
The casing is plastic but feels good in hand due to the texture. Cable provided is sturdy. I went for this because I thought with others if the cable broke or something I would have to get a new one, with this I can use any type c cable. I wasn't expecting blazing fast speeds considering I am using an wd scorpio blue hdd from my old laptop. But I am still disappointed with it. It benchmarked around 30 Mbps but in practice goes even lower. I am using the drive for backup so its fine for me.
