While considering life jackets half the cost of this one, my decision was that my precious little 10-pound Shih Tzu is worth any expense for his life. Mercy, the Ruffwear Life Jacket is well worth the money! It is very well made, it fits my mini Shih Tzu like a glove, & it has excellent features as follows. The handle is perfectly positioned & there is a safety loop, conveniently & nicely out-of-the-way, underneath it. The 2 adjustable belly straps each have a perpendicular Velcro strap that secures the excess strap length out of the way so it looks tidy, & doesn’t dangle. The neck opening is adjustable & it has a protective sleeve that both guards the hair/fur around the neck, & provides a place to slide the excess strap so it does not dangle. The Ruffwear Life Jacket is very easy to put on & take off, & it must be comfortable as my little guy helps to put it on by poking his head through the neck hole for me! Thank you!

The media could not be loaded. I started taking my pup for weekly recreational swims at a local pool a few months ago. They supply life jackets, but they were either too bulky, or the straps were way too long and dangly, or the fit wasn't quite right, or all of the above, so I bought this and love it! It's well-made and has a sleek fit and fun bright color. The front slips over her head with no extra neck buckle which makes it easier to put on when she's excited and squirmy. There's a small strap at the neck that can adjust the fit if needed. I don't usually use it, but there's a ring under the back handle can where a leash can fasten. One feature I really like is that the belly straps have Velcro, and excess length on the strap can be rolled up. She weighs about 55-60 pounds and is wearing a Medium. I highly recommend!

If you’re like me, you ended up stumbling across these Ruffwear life jackets and are now reading through reviews trying to determine why they’re more expensive than other brands and if the cost difference is justified. I was skeptical myself, but they are 100% worth it. There’s a reason other brands are much cheaper, and it’s because they are awful quality in comparison.I was already familiar with Ruffwear products and I trust the brand, but this life jacket really exceeded expectations. It’s lightweight, highly adjustable, has great buoyancy without being bulky, dries quickly, and I swear my dog acts like he doesn't even know its on. He always seems completely comfortable running around, swimming, and napping, and as you can see from the photos it doesn’t limit his range of motion at all. I also love that it stays put on his body while he’s in the water, which I also showed examples of in a few photos. Other brands ride up around the dog’s head which can be really dangerous, but the Ruffwear life jacket is form fitting and stays in place. It’s unbelievably well-made and is really durable, and I especially love the handle on the back for helping your dog in/out of the water.Lastly, I found the size chart to be spot on, so be sure to measure your dog carefully. If I hadn’t measured I would have sworn my dog would have been a size large, so I’m so glad I checked. According to his measurements he was right in between medium and large, and although I had some doubts I followed the guidance to size down. I’m so glad I did, because the medium fits him perfectly. For reference, he’s a 70lb German Shepherd.I hope this helps with your decision, stop scrolling and buy this life jacket!

Ruffwear's Float Coat I purchased for my Westie fit perfectly and enhanced his confidence to swim farther out to retrieve his float toy.The Float Coat stayed stable to help hold his head up, but did not restrict his movements whatsoever.My Westie didn't care for having to secure the neck portion when slipping over his head, but once on, he was quite comfortable leaving it on.One reviewer mentioned the plastic ring installed on the Float Coat. I agree this ring should be steel, but I did feel the Float Coat was not intended to secure the dog for retrieval if needed, so I left his long leash attached to the harness he wears. The harness and Float Coat work well together. I'm very satisfied with my Ruffwear Float Coat purchase and highly recommend it to others. The price is higher than others listed on Amazon, but I'm of the opinion that this is a quality product and worth the extra dollars spent to ensure the comfort and safety for my Westie.

Color was bright and has held up for over a year. Fits my 60 lb Staffordshire terrier perfectly. Full back coverage. Easy to put on. Loved this will definitely get again.

So glad I spent the money to upgrade from the outward hound lifejacket. This is much better quality and fits so much better. My 85 lb golden loves it. He is a great swimmer but we swim in rivers, lakes, ponds, creeks, bays and oceans so I didn’t want him to be surprised by a current, tide, or submerged obstacle and get in trouble. This puts my mind at ease. He also plays in the water for a lot longer since he can float and uses less energy. I’m also more comfortable letting him go further out to chase a toy. Would recommend.
