Used this for a road trip so I could be comfortable in my tent and not sacrifice room in the car. it rained snowed and sleeted the entire 1200 miles home everything inside stayed dry and secure. it was really easy to put on the car, I did get out a couple times and tighten it down, but that was mainly because I am that way not because it was necessary.

Excellent Product!
Excellent product! Delivered on time. Easy to install. We did add additional bungie cords because high winds were forecast. Easily carried our luggage, beach gear cart, chairs, beach umbrella, beach toys and boogie boards. Everything stayed dry after driving through high winds and heavy rain. We are very happy with this purchase.

Sturdy and Functional
I seriously had no idea how to use this - I don't think it came with clear instructions, however, I just figured that the flap that covers the zipper would be face down toward the car. I learned the hard way to pack it FIRST, then put it up on top of the car. LOL But even though I put it up top and attempted to load it after the fact, I managed to get it centered (over top of a blanket to protect my car) and got it strapped down. I added a couple extra bungee cables over the top for peace of mind. We hit the road at 70-75 mph for a 3 hour drive. I had to stop about 30 minutes in because the straps were flapping in the wind and knocking the sides of my car. It really made me nervous that it was not secure. When I checked - the bag was still very secure, so I tied the flaps into knots and continued our journey with no issues. We did not have rain, so I can't attest of its waterproof quality. When we got to our destination, the bag was still VERY secure. We unloaded it, and I did not notice any tears in any of the seams or the straps. Yes, this was certainly a learning experience for me, but I am satisfied with this bag's sturdiness and functionality. I would purchase it again.

great design but not functional
We were going on a cross country trip from KY to CA (family of 8) and needed extra room for comfort in our Durango. We bought this so we could put most of our luggage on top of my car. The design is nice but the functionality is difficult. It's easy to get on top of the car compared to the hard top ones but filling it up to fill all the space was difficult. I only mention this because if you don't, it's really hard to tie it down correctly. We filled it with 6 large fabric suitcases, 2 blankets and some toys. There was still extra room. We added another blanket and 3 towels to fill in the space so we could tie it down (for the love of God, make sure you place the straps where they need to go BEFORE filling the bag lol) we still weren't able to fill the corners but gave up because now we're just bringing stuff we didn't need to fill in space. Tying it down was not as easy as we thought it would be. Be patient with this part, it will drive you crazier then a 3 year old crying mommy, mommy, mommy for 15 min. After we finally got it tied down (45 min later) we were on our way. Seemed fine until it rained. Yes, it did what it said and kept our stuff dry but when they straps got wet, they stretch enough from the weight to where we had to pull over, readjust everything, and retighten them. It's not a bad product and you may have better luck then we did but it's not for us

Have been using this on vacation and it is very strong and reliable. Make sure that you have the straps tight so it doesn't bang on your roof. There is no lock, so if you are nervous about your stuff being taken, get a small padlock to lock the zippers together, then one of the long "chains" to wrap around the bags handle and your luggage rack on the vehicle.

good for weekend trips
I think it is good for short trips, but I don't know about long trips across the country. I haven't been able to use it, because the roof protector is very thin, and I don't trust it. I think this cargo roof bag is good for weekend trips. I would prefer a hard case for cross-country.

Fortunately we didn't lose any luggage
After getting to our destination I noticed it had a giant gaping hole in the side of it. Fortunately we didn't lose any luggage. The hole was about 3' long and pretty tall. I didn't over stuff the cargo carrier and strapped it down accordingly. As a result of all the wind, my $100 suitcase from High Sierra now has a small hole in it as well.

Not water resistant!
The one time we used this, it rained both directions on our trip. It says it's waterproof, but it leaked both times. On the way home we had to put our stuff in plastic bags to keep it dry. I didn't get the chance to return it, but will now only use it when there is no rain in the forecast.
