Basilius Besler’s Florilegium. The Book of Plants (Bibliotheca Universalis)

Full color under-sized book is beautiful! This book has MANY full-page portraits of flowers followed by full descriptions of the color plates. The pages are semi-glossy and gorgeous. The book is heavy, and almost 2 inches thick. Anyone that stops over likes to look at these beautiful pictures, although the pages feel too small. I use this book as a reference for using flowers in my art work. I have included a picture of an 8.5" X 11" sheet of paper behind the book to show how large the pages are. This is honestly the most beautiful book I've ever seen in my life. I'm an artist and I will use it for reference to draw and paint from. It's organized by seasons which I thought was super neat. I'm really glad I got it. It was a prime day purchase so I even saved a few bucks!

I have ordered other Taschen books (Monet) and I like how compact they are and loaded with info and lots of pictures! I thought this particular book was a general informational guide on flora, but its specifically related to the flora that was brought in and grown at the garden's castle in Germany. Regardless, the hand drawn pictures and story is interesting. Recommend!

This book of flowers came in great condition, no damage. The print quality is good. The smaller size makes it really handy. Great for reference for drawing flowers and also simply lovely to look at all the beautiful paintings. Was packaged well and arrived completely protected and without any damage.

Very informative and a plus that the pictures are so detailed. Outside of the book is also very aesthetically pleasing so you can keep It on your living room table

とにかく沢山の植物の水彩画が載ってる。 個性的なタッチで好みは分かれると思う。 サイズは小さめだけど、かなり分厚いので持ち運びには向いてない。 紙素材のハードカバーですが、しっかりした作りです。 タイトルの通り細かい描写が集合体恐怖症の人には辛いかも… 私も無理でダメなページには付箋を貼って開かないようにしてます…笑
