Ich hatte zuvor einen Fingerabdrucksensor, der als kleiner USB-Dongle ausgelegt war. Also kleiner, eleganter, unauffälliger und zudem noch halb so teuer. Und wenn der funktionierte war es auch toll, sich einfach per Finger-auflegen in Windows anmelden zu können. Nur wenn das nicht klappte, war es einfach nur nervig. Und die ganze Quality of Life Steigerung, die man sich erkaufen wollte schlug ins Gegenteil um. Erkennt er drei mal in Folge den Finger nicht, MUSS man per sich per PIN einloggen. Und leider kam das ziemlich häufig vor. Es wurde immer mehr zu einem Krampf. Aber warum schreibe ich die ganze Zeit von einem anderen Gerät. Einfach weil sich das mit dem Kensington-Sensor alles gewandelt hat. Ich habe ihn nun seit knapp einem Monat im Einsatz und ja auch er erkennt den Finger manchmal nicht. Mit Betonung auf manchmal. Also nicht wie der andere regelmäßig 3 Fehlversuche in Folge. Bisher war war der zweite Versuch nach einem Fehlversuch immer erfolgreich. Von daher kann ich das Gerät vollends empfehlen.

Setup was smooth with Windows Hello, and the driver installed automatically via Windows Update, no manual steps needed. It works flawlessly with my password manager and is compatible across multiple PCs, making it a reliable choice for both personal and work setups. Only downside? You need to touch it lightly—pressing too hard and it won’t register your fingerprint. Once you get the feel for it, it reads fast and accurately. Bottom line: Sturdy, easy to set up, and does its job well. Just be gentle with the touch.
