Our local theater ran the LOR trilogy on the big screen recently. My daughter and I love the movies, and when I saw these available, I bought them for her birthday. They look really neat. The picture is accurate regarding what the book ends can support. They are not very heavy, so only lighter books can be used with them.

I would love to be able to give this no stars but I can't, these are TERRIBLE and look nothing like the statues in the movie. While they may be heavy duty, they are also a heavy disappointment. DO. NOT. BUY.

I bought these for a friend because they love Lord of the Rings. They're probably not good bookends. Heck, they're not good replicas in terms of color. They feel like the kind of thing you would buy from a cheap decoration store.No detailing work done on them whatsoever. Just really dark, glossy material. If you want Lord of the rings decor, yeah they're cheaper. If you want to make them look more like rock, it's a cool art project (but 3d printingay be cheaper).I won't say they're bad. Just cheap and probably shouldn't be used as bookends unless it's paperbacks. I also suspect they'll break if you drop them.
