Cute kit for budding bakers
This is a really nicely designed gift set that is made from recyclable materials but is bright and cheerful enough to appeal to children. It includes the dry ingredients to make a batch of cookies, as well as fondant icing and coloured inks to decorate them. You need to add 80 grams of butter and a medium egg (plus optional vanilla or almond essence), and you will need your own basic tools like bowls and a baking tray. The nice thing about this is that the recipe is simple, and the little packets of dry ingredients mean that there is no weighing out and therefore much less mess than usual when baking with children. Kids will love drawing designs onto the cookies once they're made. The downsides of the kit are that it is very expensive for what you get, plus the instructions are on the back of the cardboard sleeve that surrounds the box, which is not the most convenient place and means that they can't really be kept. It would be better if they were in a leaflet, and it would also be good if two paintbrushes were provided (as in the photos) rather than just one, so that two kids or a child and an adult could work together on the decorating.Overall though this is a sweet kit that any children with interests in baking or art will enjoy.

The Good, The Bad and The Messy
I have called my review “The Good, The Bad and The Messy” so I shall explain what I mean. Firstly the good part: I like kits like this that allow you to create something with a little helper. It’s a great way to learn about food and baking and also a great way to bond too. I like that there are no hidden additives or preservatives included in the mixes and that the packaging is environmentally friendly. The bad part is the cost. It is expensive for a kit which you need to add some ingredients to. I am also unsure whether this kit is aimed at adults who bake or those who don’t. There is a cutter included, but most bakers will have one, but you need to have parchment paper as there is only one sheet included and you need more which mostly only those who bake will have. I have made (with my little helper) similar cookies at a fraction of the price. The final part is the messy! This is to do with the colouring which never seems to dry out. Eating a cookie meant your hands would get covered let alone your lips and your teeth. I’m glad we didn’t decide to host a tea party with these because it would have been a pretty messy affair!Overall we had a good time making cookies but I definitely don’t think it is worth the cost. By the time you have included the extra ingredients, cooking time etc. it is a pretty expensive activity. As I say, there are other options available and even though the biscuits were quite tasty and we did have fun, it’s not something that I would get again at this price.

Get creative with your kids!
The media could not be loaded. This is a great set for making artisan biscuits which can be then topped with sugar paste and then hand painted. The children can let their imagination run wild with these and can design their own unique one of a kind biscuits.Everything you need bar a couple of store cupboard ingredients is in the box so it’s all made simple.I would give a little tip to just use a tiny bit of water to very slightly dampen the top of the biscuit just in a couple of areas which will make the sugar paste adhere. This creates a lovely bonding and learning experience between parent and child and I would definitely recommend it.The ingredients seem to be good quality and work well.I hope you find my review helpful.

Very over priced
I was very disappointed with this gift set, it's priced at £22.00 and I was expecting a lot more in the set. Its very overpriced for the items you get, you could go to the supermarket and buy all the items for approx. half the price, so your really paying the extra for a box. Would not recommend this for that reason. Not a lot more I can say but once cooked the cookie's are not that nice either.

Fun set to spend time with children, but...
The set itself is really fun, instructions are easy to follow and kids will definitely enjoy making biscuits.Everything would be ok, except that it contains lots of harmful ingredients. It's my fault that I haven't checked it before ordering, so I won't be taking stars off for it. But I would advise others to check for healthier options. -"Ingredients: Biscuit mix: WHEAT flour, caster sugar Sugarpaste: Sugar; glucose syrup; palm oil; humectant: E422; emulsifier: E471; colours: E160a, E133; stabilisers: E415, E466; preservative: E202; flavouring.
