It does an adequate job for the size of the filter and the price
I've uploaded a photo showing the pre-sift, the sifted grinds, and how much fines was filtered. For my grinder it was around 10-13% of the total dose.I had an issue where my v60 filter was clogging due to the fines in my grind. I had a choice to try sifting or to buy a new grinder that was more consistent at grinding. This little device for the price, while not as fine filtering as other higher end sifters, helped alleviate my problem to a tolerable range. No longer does my filter clog a minute into my brew and the drip rate has increased to the rate expected from using a v60-02 filter. Some cons:The vessel is quite small, so because of that it will get a bit messy when handling the filter or taking off the lid. I use an elastic band to secure the lid while shaking then I give it a tap at the end to knock down any fines or grinds stuck to the sides.Wish the capacity was larger. As another has mentioned, this is probably ideal for up to 20-25g in order to give the grinds enough space to fully sift.

Buen producto.

Useful, if not necessary, addition to your coffee arsenal
After years of using other methods, I've recently returned to using a Bodum French Press for my morning coffee.I use quality, fresh, roasted whole-beans which I grind myself just before brew with a quality steel burr hand grinder. However, I always noticed a 'sludge' at the bottom of my mug which I ignored for a while before wondering if anything could be done about it. I figured the sludge was nothing more than fine particles of coffee that got through the fine mesh in a French Press filter, so I thought, 'if I could sieve out the dust/fine particles, perhaps the bottom of my mug would be cleaner, and perhaps I'd get a more uniformly-extracted brew'. This train of thought led me to buy this sifter-sieve.• So. Does this sifter-sieve actually work?In practice, I've noticed it certainly works with removing the finer particles, but I've also noticed that it's at its most efficient with smaller amounts of coffee. That's to say you get better results when sifting 18g of coffee than you do with 30g of coffee (I'd say the max practical capacity for this sieve is around 30g of ground beans). It stands to reason that the longer you stand there shaking and sieving, the more fines get removed, because the more room the ground coffee has to bounce around in, the more dust and fines get agitated. If you want to sieve 30g of coffee, be prepared to shake and sieve for, like, five minutes+ because shaking 30g of coffee for only a minute or two still leaves noticeable sludge at the bottom of the mug. Shaking 15g to 18g for a few minutes seems to produce decent results with the minimum of sludge and fines.• Should you buy this sifter-sieve?If you love your coffee ritual and love the thought of doing everything you can to get the best tasting cup of French Press coffee, and perhaps you like to experiment like a mad scientist, and (most importantly) can be bothered with the hokey-cokey of shaking and sifting, I'd say – yes – buy this sifter-sieve because it will make a slight difference. But as with all things, past a certain point, it's the law of diminishing returns and then it becomes up to you to decide if it's worth the cost and the hassle for what you get in return. Could I live without this sifter-sieve now I've got it? Yes. It's not really necessary, or so great that the difference in the cup is night and day. But, again, if you enjoy your coffee-craic, go for it and buy one._________________________________________Another small fact: when using 18g of coffee, grinding it, then sifting it, I've weighed that about 16.5g of coffee remains in the sifter pot, while around 1.5g makes it through as dust/fines. If you want to be really accurate with brew ratios and measurements, make sure you add a few more grams of coffee to allow for 'spoilage' (I just empty the fines into my food compost bin)._________________________________________Found this review useful? Can REALLY improve your coffee experience
This product exists for a very niche consumer. Here's the set up -- you've gotten into the nerdier side of coffee but you're poor. I bought the cheapest Mr. Coffee burr grinder which is better than a blade grinder but still produces WAY too many fines for some brew methods. After getting a moka pot, my cup would start amazing but begin to get bitter and disgusting the closer that I got to the bottom, thanks to the sludge of fines that settle to the bottom. A nicer coffee grinder wouldn't have this problem but a a hand grinder with a nice burr set it out of my price range. After sifting the fines out of my grounds, even my least favorite coffee beans have become new and amazing flavor experiences once the shroud of bitterness from the fines was lifted. The product itself is exactly what it needs to be for the price range. It takes me several minutes of shaking and banging the sifter on the countertop to achieve my desired results. If you want to improve your cup of coffee without spending extravagant amounts of money on nicer equipment and you don't mind the arm exercise and a couple extra minutes of shaking your grounds, this is the product for you. Aside from pro-sumer products, with this sifter, time, and a little bit of effort on your part, you can GREATLY improve the flavor profile of your cup in the mornings. You can expect NO SLUDGE at the bottom and the flavors from the beans can really shine as they were meant to. Coffee that I once thought was sub-par now has amazing earthy, chocolatey, nutty notes. This is a great product for the price if you know what to expect.
