Fantastic company and sweater! Not heavyweight wool yarn, so good year-round.
Many visitors to California's central coast are surprised to find how cold it gets here year-round mornings & evenings. I wear a cardigan pretty much every day. Prior to this purchase on Amazon, I've bought a few merino wool Irish sweaters from a well known TV shopping network at much higher prices. I'm thrilled with my recent purchase of this Carraig Donn A Line Aran Knit Cardigan. Ordered on the 15th of April, it arrived from Ireland today... the 21st! The purple color is lovely and just as shown on its product page. New, out of the package, it seemed somewhat small for a large, but knits often are; the knit will loosen somewhat with wear. The yarn isn't as beefy as other Irish sweaters I've purchased in the past. That's good for two reasons: first, it won't be too hot in warmer weather (40-60 degrees), and secondly, it won't make you look 10-15 pound heavier layered over a long sleeved shirt or turtleneck in winter. The a line shape is flattering. It seems to be well made. As with all wool sweaters, you'll want to air it for a few days before wearing or storing. I've been told to always store sweaters like this in a drawer. The company included a nice note and a tote bag with my purchase, as well as a small catalog of their other offerings. Very happy!

ain't nothing like the real thing, baby
My wife has learned what everyone should- natural fibers are just better, in every way. She's learned to love good wool, as well as cotton and linen, good leather and fur. Like many, she must wear another layer 'twixther tender skin and wool, but wool is warm, even in damp weather, looks great and lasts really long. I'd imagine the time will come when one of our grandaughters will be happy to inherit this timeless sweater, and it will look great on her, too. Get the good stuff, take care of it, and it'll take care of you.

Great sweater
Who doesn't like a big comfy sweater to snuggle up into during the cold winter months? I bought the purple. It runs a little on the big side. The purple has a lighter strand of purple in it but it doesn't take away from all the detail as I think most Karl yarns do. Its warm and flatters all shapes with the a line design. But you do have to wear another shirt or cami under it as the bottom design is open. Get compliments every time I've worn this sweater.

Irish wool is the best for warmth and durability. Great design for dress pants, jeans or dresses

A green sad sack...
I have 3 other Irish cardigans that are beautifully crafted, well-made and warm. Unfortunately this one (size XS) is a big disappointment and I returned it. The knit is so loose, when putting the sweater on it stretches out making holes (!) in the pattern and compromises any styling. The sleeves are enormous and way out of proportion. The green color is much lighter than shown. Instead of a rich green, it is washed out and unremarkable. The buttons are large and in a brown wood instead of matching green as shown. Buyer beware.

Husband thinks this made me look dumpy
I loved the color, the texture, the weave, and the feel of this sweater. When I modeled for my husband, he said, "it makes you look dumpy. It's big and bulky." I am 5 ft and 110 pounds. I liked the idea of being surrounded by a nice, warm, woolen sweater. But I don't want to appear to be wearing a lumber jack outfit at happy hour. Sorry, the weave is great, buttons are great, and if it were just me and my cat, I'd keep it. The collar is especially nice if you want to wear it with a turtleneck. Sorry, sorry. It's a beautiful sweater.

Gorgeous but too big.
I absolutely love this style sweater and wish I could have kept it, but it was a big size Large. I will probably reorder it in a medium because the style is flattering. It is also dressier to wear with skirts. Actually, it would look good with anything.
