This book was perfect for me. Coming from a piano background I thought it would be easy to just pick up playing guitar. Not so much. Reading this book has really helped me understand the basics - I'm already familiar with notes and chords but this book gives great guitar-specific techniques in starting out the right way. Really liked the chapter on choosing a good beginner guitar depending on your needs. And I didn't even know there were left handed guitars, which would be nice for me. A lot of helpful info for me about types of guitars, how to set and reach goals, etc. Written in a very concise manner, easy and enjoyable to read.

I've had a guitar sitting around the house FOREVER and always wanted to learn at least a little something. This book was very helpful and rather easy to follow. Also helped me have a bit of a clue when I sat down to learn piano! Great info in here about how to understand music in general in addition to get a feel for the guitar. Great book!

As a guitar player myself for a few years, I can say I got a great and positive surprise from this book.I've read many books on this subject for years and all I found was poorly elaborated schemes, and a really basic information. Barely helpful for a beginner, What I like most is the personal style the author (a real guitar player) has given to the book. You can immediately feel if the author knows about the stuff or not... In this book, that's not a problem as all the information is given in a clear and simple way so the reader can easily understand all the ideas.After understanding the basics on How to choose the right guitar (extremely useful at the beginning) the reader start learning fundamental exercises and ideas for developing a solid guitar knowledge.If you're looking for a REALLY complete book on how to start playing the guitar and improving your level, THIS is the book. Seriously.

This is a great book, it walks through the critical basics very logically with great introductions to music theory and a very helpful progression through learning chords. Great book.

Overall very good, full of valuable information. Please check your fretboard quiz answers! I think #14 is incorrect but who am I to say as a beginner.

The author takes the time to explain a lot of details before you even begin to learn to play. He covers the different styles of guitar, the general price ranges, and what he will talk about as the lessons progress.

I found this book to be packed full of information and did not leave nothing out, I felt as the author was very passionate about the subject and had a lot of knowledge, this book has given me some great tips to help me continuously practice and master the guitar, good read

Not a very big book ok for real beginners

I like the fact that the book is highly structured and it does tell you the potholes u might get into while starting out on the learning guitar journey. And that there is constant motivation at regular intervals....It did bring down my frustration level while trying to work on the difficult part.There will be times while reading the book when you will feel someone is really talking to you. That's the beauty of the book.. it's written in very lucid language.The only thing which the author can add more to is how do we make the practice sessions more interesting because there are times when it gets exhausting while practicing.If you are a beginner, I would recommend the book.

There cannot be a better book than this if you want to learn guitar. The author does a fine job of explaining the basics of guitar and then gets into specifics. If you want to learn guitar from scratch and master it eventually - this is the book for you. You cannot go wrong!

Fine for those of us who are inexperienced because the book is really rather basic but at the same time it is useful because it follows through easy to understand steps from what type of guitar to buy to how to play it.

This book is highly recommend for a building a great foundation. The author has a unique style of putting forth information in a very effective way. Learning is certainly not stressful.

I thought it is a manual book which i ordered to gift my friend.But stupid it is some digital version. There is no clear mentioning that it is a digital copy. Waste of money.
