I was told I probably have a small labrum tear and to rest and avoid painful movements. I initially got a sling but that restricted my movement more than was necessary (it's my dominant arm too!). This keeps me from moving my arm the wrong way until the tear heals or I can get in to see an orthopedist, without encumbering me unnecessarily. It's also more comfortable than the sling, which had a huge buckle that sat on my neck in JUST the wrong place and made me light-headed. The velcro on the arm of this brace pinches a little, and the band can be a little tight, but I do have kind of big arms. Wearing it over sleeves takes care of the pinching and so far I can wear the cuff for hours at a stretch without the tightness becoming too uncomfortable to ignore (and I'm a wimp about that kind of thing). Plus I figure it's gotta be a LITTLE tight to apply pressure properly without slipping. It really is made to work for both arms, and the way the strap is you can adjust it from either side. The velcro is not the big messy hooks that catch on everything, but instead is a shorter and less damaging hook style which nevertheless does not sacrifice holding power. Anyway, to sum up: great product for the price (and not only just for that!) and delivery was fast. I'm very happy.
