Very Nice Set....one of my favorite....i have had like four! The Mold is MATTE not glossy!! But sturdy and the Rook is super cool!

Love these chess piece molds! They stand up straight on their own and are nice and strong… all of them were easy to demold with the exception of the King and Queen… they get stuck at the middle where this lip is… I found that if I rolled the mold down instead of just trying to pull the piece out, and used some WD40 as a lubricant, they would pop right out! I made a set using UV Resin… I hate waiting 24 hours for things to cure when they are this size,,,I cured them in layers as well… except the pawn, I could fill them up and cure them all at Once… took about 45 minutes total time to cure everything properly using the uv resin …. I also made a set with 4 hour demold Resin when I cured up a checker/chess board… that way I had two complete sets of pieces to go with the board,,, the board was the same brand as the pieces I’m reviewing now… over all, these chess pieces are excellent … they are sturdy, easy to demold, and did not warp out of shape demolding them… I am going to order another set so that I have two complete sets and some extras since I got one set with the board mold… Highly recommend!!!

I have used these types of molds for a while and I was highly disappointed when the pieces came out with a matte finish over the glossy finish on the pieces. If you look at the pieces on the right you will see that they do not have the glossy finish. It’s an issue because I wasted the resin in order to make a set of pieces that match in their shine. Now I have mismatched pieces because of this. If you look at the Order page the examples are glossy, as you can see, they don’t come out that way. I looked into the mold and they have a dull finish. They turn out as expected and they are heavy enough so they don’t tear easily when de-molding. Sorry but not very happy with the product as advertised. You should tell your customers that they are not going to come out with any shine. Follow Up: So Customer service contacted me and actually offered me a refund. I used the refund to buy another set, that way I would have chess sets that matched in regards to glossiness. Great customer service and happy to make a purchase again.

These molds (all molds) should come with a warning lol. I'm new to the 2 part resin stuff so my knowledge is severely lacking, or was. Make sure you get the resin ALL the way to the bottom and make sure there aren't any air gaps! Took me 3 or 4 times to make one set. Strictly user error obviously. Make sure you stretch out the molds like you would a balloon first. On the bright side? All of those attempts and not one of those buggers tore! Definitely sturdy.

I thought that they might be more on the flimsy side but I was wrong they are very durable and easy to use although de-molding can be a little bit tough but like i said they are durable so no need to worry about tearing.

Finally Demolded my Forest project I was amazingly happy with the shape of the pieces. But my pleasure with that aspect is demolished. How could the SELLER NOT HAVE MATTE FINISH located in the description of the product. Now I’m up a creek with no paddle. I will never suggest this product even if matte is the desired look. This set will make you one set of chess pieces at a time. You will need to buy some kind of frame to hold the pieces while you work. It'll do, but it takes some work to make these molds work their best. Not the easiest to pop the pieces out of these molds - I was afraid I was going to rip apart the molds trying to de-mold several of the pieces. To prevent air bubbles from ruining your work, fill the mold about 1/3 of the way, then either thoroughly squeeze the molds, and/or use a toothpick to ensure that the resin has filled all the nooks and crannies of the top of the mold before pouring more resin into the mold. While I did my first test run of these molds in layers of about 25% per pour and just a little squeezing, and the resin did not not readily settle evenly, so I found many little bubbles along the details at the head of the pieces. Unfortunately, due to the translucency of these molds, it is hard to tell if you've resolved all these bubbles. Also, would love this mold SO much more if they were fully clear/nearly clear, not just to tell if one has gotten rid of any air bubbles, but also so that one can see what one is doing if trying to create effects during the resin pour. Additionally, I would love to find a set of chess pieces that are a little less traditional looking. There was one set I found on Amazon which were quite striking and lovely (which also looked like they would de-mold easily!), but which were also oversized, so too large to fit a traditional-sized chessboard.
