Before they broke through to American audiences with their 1983 album of covers, Labour of Love, UB40 was well known and respected as Britain's best (and most fiercely political) reggae band, and this home-video release of a 1982 concert staged for German television captures the early period of the band at the height of its powers. Rockpalast: UB40 - Live features the songs "One in Ten," "Present Arms," "Tyler," "Don't Do the Crime," "Silent Witness," "Sardonicus," and more.

UB40 VHS ROCKAPLAST
It's not subtitled, but they do show the name of what song is playing, every time they play a new song.

UB40 at it's beggining
In this DVD you can see UB40 in one of their first concerts. Here are songs from their 3 first albums, classic songs like Folitician, One in Ten, King, Tyler, etc. If you are a true fan of UB40, you should buy it, but if you are seeking for songs like Red Red Wine or Kingston Town, you'll be dissapointed.

UB 40 LIVE..
This was my first Rockpalast DVD, and i was very dissapointed with the dvd, i will be holding back from buying further Rockpalast DVD'S in future, I was expecting something better from UB 40 but it was filmed in there early days(1982)...but even the hit one in ten was a very sad sight for sore eyes...what more can one say...my advice is stay clear of this DVD...

UB40 Rockplast 1982
I found this a wonderful experience, to see this almost unknown band playing music with so much enthusiastic energy. It has a raw feel and gives an excellent portrayal of those early days including distortion and a request for more support from the mostly lifeless audience. An almost complete opposite of recent concerts where the audience are enthusiastic and the band just stands around.

early ub40..at their best...
nice to find some footage of them in their early days...would of given it 5 stars just for that...BUT the only let down is the sound quality at times...but still very very good and worth the money.. :o) wish there was more of it....

Top 5 of all time...
As the title would suggest, I like this live concert from 1982 very much. This is easily the best UB40 live performance of all time. I have them all but recently lost my only copy of this 1982 Rockpalast concert outing. The sound quality of this DVD is better than the original version I had. This is the band in their absolute prime. They have the live stuff down to a tee. Raw, edgy and taking chances make this hour long gig in the my own Top 5 live gigs of all time. And that's saying something. I have high standards. Ali Cambells ' vocal is unique and lush. The bass work is distorted but undoubtedly some of the most important musical performances ever recorded. It's that good. Drums and Brass is outstanding also. All of it is. Except Astro's jumper. Then again...

bonne qualite pour la periode. Vaut le coup car tres rare a trouver.
Un enregistrement qui fait plaisir. On revoit Ub40 a la sortie du 2nd album "present arms". Tres agreable. Un peu court 12 titres. J'aurais mis 5* s'il y a vait eu "food fot thaught".
