Fusion Mineral Paint 500 ml Coal Black

The coverage was amazing! I used the Cast Iron color on night stand chests. I had a smooth surface. I washed them with soap and water and followed with the paint. I didn't sand or prime anything. I used a Purdy Clear cut paint brush. I loved the color and felt it was true to what I saw online. It was easy to apply. But don't go back over partially dry areas because the paint streaks. I lightly sanded these areas and they disappeared with the second coat. The finished surface looks like a professional did the work. This paint was beyond my expectations. I covered two night stands and a small wooden bookshelf with one and a half bottles. Do some online research about the product so you know how to best apply it. Gentle brush strokes leave minimal marks that just look like wood grain. My neighbor is a contractor and he was impressed! I'm going to let it cure for 21 days before I stack books on the shelf or put anything heavy on the nightstands. I also painted some plastic picture frames that look great.

Absolutely loved this paint. It had come recommended to me by someone on Facebook whom I bought a piece of furniture off it. I used it to paint an old wooden table that I wanted to use in my kitchen. The paint went on like a dream - the first coat was almost enough to finish the job! A second layer finished it off and it looks absolutely perfect. It dried really quickly. I did the second coat the next day, but honestly could’ve gone back over it within about 30 minutes if I wanted to. Phenomenal value for the price. I’ve still got about half of the container left! Quality paint, very easy to apply, and the color was consistent throughout. I’ll definitely order again.

Love this water based paint!! I’ve used several colors for various projects. It always goes on thick and smooth often only one application is needed. Zero fines. Dries quickly and comes in a huge variety of colors. On this particular color I enhanced antique oak dressers to match my black iron bed. The results are beautiful! See before/after photos!

Great paint coverage and I was surprised that after painting two bedside tables that I had some of the paint left over. A bit pricey but I was happy with it!

This paint is one of the best. It is easy to apply it doesn't drag at all. A little goes a long way. It's very easy to work with. It doesn't have that harsh smell. The color was spot on.

This was my first time using fusion mineral paint. I have used chalk, latex, and spray paint for painting various pieces of furniture. Some people swear by these paints, but I haven't been happy with the results and keep looking for something different. I did a bathroom vanity cabinet with Annie Sloan chalk paint and don't like it that much, though I have to say it's held up well. I just don't like the waxed finish for that piece, though maybe it was my waxing technique. Since it's the only thing I have used chalk paint on, I am not sure if it's just the way of chalk paint and wax, or user error. Latex seems OK if it's on virgin wood, but over any other paint, even with primer it always seems tacky. And I just plain suck with spray paint, so I don't even go there, even though I know it is the best for a nice smooth surface. For a horizontal surface where stuff will get moved around on the top a bit, I wanted something more durable and also low VOC. I was thinking of using Min-wax Polyshades, which does make a very smooth and durable surface, and I have had good luck using it on other things. But would have had to leave the tables in the garage to off-gas for about a month, so that was out. After stumbling across this paint, thought I would give it a try on these end tables I picked up at a consignment shop for $25. I did prep, giving them a scrubbing with TSP and a light sanding as they had a varnish on them. The before photos are after cleaning and sanding. I left the dings as they gave it character. It took 2 coats for good coverage and I used about 1/2 the 500ml jar to finish both tables. The paint was relatively easy to work with. I was hoping the self leveling would cut down on visible brush strokes, and it did except where I overworked the paint. The legs are completely smooth as I didn't overwork them. However on the tops I had a hard time not overworking the paint and just letting it self level, so it's relatively smooth with some faint visible brush strokes. Which I don't mind too much so am leaving them. I could sand and do another coat, but am pretty happy with how it turned out. I would say what kind of brush you use will make a huge difference in how it turns out. I tried a couple different brushes - a round natural bristle brush I had from the chalk paint, and a Purdy synthetic brush. I found the natural bristle brush held a lot more paint and despite going on with more visible brush strokes they leveled out much better than when I used the Purdy brush. I did the first table with the natural bristle brush and the second one with the Purdy. The table top I used the Purdy brush on came out awful, so I ended up sanding it smooth and putting on the final coat with the round natural bristle brush. The legs on the Purdy brush table also have more visible brush marks than the one done with the natural bristle brush, but as they aren't as visible as the top I just left them. Overall I would recommend the natural bristle brush if you tried a good quality synthetic brush and didn't like the results. You seem to get surprisingly fewer brushstrokes with the natural bristle brush once the paint self levels and dries. I haven't decided if I am going to put on any other finish coats yet. It takes about 3 weeks for the paint to fully cure, so I won't be able to determine the durability with only the paint until then. I will try to write an update about durability as the tables see every day use.

I love this paint. It adheres to anything, once your piece is clean and has a built in top coat. It’s easy to work with and if you use a little water, using thin layers, you will get excellent coverage.

Soap stone looks more dark grey online, but it has a strong blue tint to it in person. For us, that was perfect because i wanted dark blue but didn’t have the guts to buy it. But that might be a problem for some if u expect dark grey but it has a strong blue tone to it. Either way, I love it! We used this on our bathroom vanity that needed serious revamp without the cost of brand new! I LOVE it. it dries super quickly also. Definitely needed two coats with a light 280 grit polish in between the first and final coat. I waited 3 days for the paint to be completely dry before i buffed for the final coat. I’m sure 1 day would be fine, but i wasn’t in a rush so i waited longer. Very happy with the final product. I bought a different color for my guest bathroom. Can’t wait to see the final product in there. **just painted my front door with Bedford: the paint dries A LOT darker than the bottle. But it still works for our home. So just beware they do dry MUCH darker than they appear in the bottle. It’s beautiful do. Makes my basic door look expensive lol
