Why does it smell so bad?

It is how they are made, I have had mine about a year, still smell bad

Could i put these on my wall to block any outside noise?

No. Not only are these light weight and designed for higher frequencies while the outside noises are usually deeper and heavier, but 9 times out of 10 you need to apply materials to the side of the wall you're trying to block noise from. The empty air in your walls surrounded by 2 sheets of drywall act like a drum, so you need to reduce the noise before it reaches your wall. What you need is bricks and bushes, and heavy duty curtains on your windows.

Will there be more of these available soon? I can't find any others with this groove structure.

You may need stronger tape. I use double sided gorilla tape and it holds up great!
