Sealed a large tear/hole in leather car seat
We had a large hole in our leather seat in our Infiniti but we didn’t want to spend much money because the vehicle had over 200,000 miles and we aren’t going to be able to sell it for much. So I thought I’d try this to see if I could at least seal the hole and make it look better. There was no way to bring the two pieces of the leather together to seam it. I had to use the material that was provided to fill it in and I still had to push it down quite a bit with the glue. Then I experienced some shrinkage with the glue and had to come back the next day and add additional. I didn’t have any luck applying the texture to the surface. But overall, I was happy that it’s held and at least accomplished what I needed it to do which was sealing the large torn hole in the leather. After I used leather color on top to match the seat color.

Surprisingly impressive! A good product at a great price.
I wasn't entirely certain what to expect with any leather/vinyl/dashboard repair product. The reviews for many brands and types of repair kits were all over the board from the best ever to whale-dung bad. I have used JB Weld products in the past and they have always worked as expected so I ordered the J-B Weld 2130 kit to repair my cracked and tired 1979 Fiat X1/9 dashboard. Since I am knee-deep in a full X1/9 restoration, the dashboard I repaired was removed from the car and the repair kit was used inside a dry, heated garage. The vinyl repair silicone is fairly thick but will flow out slightly to smooth over any light wrinkles or high spots with the initial application. There are a couple of things I would recommend when using this (and likely similar kits): use a plastic single-edged razor blade (or similar) or a small (1" or so) flexible plastic applicator to apply the vinyl repair compound. The included applicator is very thin, narrow and breakable. It (the included applicator) also limits the quality of your silicone repair application. I also recommend thoroughly cleaning the repair area with alcohol (per the instructions). In my experience, most repairs will require more than one application of the repair compound. One thing to remember is the curing time, around 24-hours. I suspect the quality and curing times will change with temperature and humidity. Now for the results. In a word, impressive. I applied the compound and let it cure as directed. It does shrink a bit, likely requiring a second coat. However, on the second coat, I used the included texture paper to match the texture of my dash. I did use painters tape to ensure the texture paper would make good contact with the second application of the repair compound. I am not certain if this is required for good results but I didn't think it would cause any problems, so I taped it down. The results were very good and much better than I expected. For the price of the J-B Weld repair kit I figured I would give it a try before I went to the expense of ordering a professionally restored dashboard. I am glad I did! The quality of the repairs I achieved were good enough to satisfy my very high standards. The colors included with the kit can be combined for additional colors. I was able to get a good match for my dashboard, although I plan to paint and flock the dashboard for a more finished look. However, that isn't required to get great results, at least in my experience.

Saved me hundreds
Works great. I had tried the other brand years ago with zero success. Not sure if this is different or if I just did it wrong last time. a bit different than instructions but my repair was a long thin crack in a hard vinyl dashboard top. Cleaned out the crack and over course of several days filled crack with the clear drying adhesive. Make sure to dab/wipe it off the uncracked surface so it's only in the crack. After that LIGHT scuff/sand with 600 grit. Mixed the color, spread a little on and sort of padded off/moved around with a balled up cloth then pressed the grain paper to it.

Good adhesive but i found matching color too difficult
My dog ripped my leather seat one day while jumping out of my car. I bought this kit in order to fix it. The adhesive has held well but I had to cut a piece of my jeans out to put under the rip to give it something to glue to. I found it kind of odd the kit didn't come with some piece of backing like this. The result is the picture shown. It came with a color kit but I couldn't get anything even close to my beige leather when I tried mixing it. Maybe others have a better eye for mixing colors but I just couldn't do it with the instructions given.

Don’t waste your money
Don’t waste your money, horrible product. Glue is just simple white glue, backing fabric falls apart while you cutting it, colors are not pigmented. All of it has a quality of a $1 store elementary school kit.

Difficult and time consuming. For very small repairs only. Mixing color is a crap shoot.
This might be OK for very small holes or tears but for anything larger than say 1/16 of an inch I would not recommend. For one thing there's not enough of the repair paste for anything larger. The other issue I had is the color dried much darker than what I had mixed to match my leather chair. It looks like hell because it's not even close in color and not smooth. In retrospect I think I would have been better off cutting a bit of material from an out of sight location of the chair and glued it over the damaged arm of the chair using a proven adhesive such as Shoe Goo.

Not doing the job. Low and poor quality
No color can match, and I revived it without the tool to apply the heat on

24 hour dry time between coats, unacceptable
Probably the worst leather repair kit I have used. Previously used the Permatex kit but can’t buy that anymore, this product doesn’t call out the need for up to 24hours to dry between coats! Who has their car off the road for an entire weekend and wants to waste two days mucking around with waiting for this crap to dry between coats
