Caldwell Duramax 5" Self Healing Targets with Heavy Duty, Long Life Construction for Outdoor, Range, Shooting and Hunting

We have bought a few of these. The colors are great and show up well. It is fun to use them for target practice as they bounce around from place to place when you hit them. They last for years and take a good beating.

I have shot this target ball at least six or seven hundred times with 9mm and 22 and it is perfectly fine, maybe a little dirty but strong enough for at least two thousand more rounds. Super fun to start at 20 yards a make it roll to 120 plus.

We used this with a .22 rifle. It worked well. Took many hits and would roll a bit in the range when hit. It looks like it can take thousands more hits. My kids liked shooting at it because it would let them know if they hit it by moving a bit. The .22 bullets didn't make it move much. The best was maybe a foot or two so it worked nicely to not move too far and get out of range quickly. I'd buy it again for sure.

Fun to shoot, good training in that it moves with every hit, requiring re-acquisition of sights, continued trigger control etc. Surprisingly durable. Thy have held up well to many hits from .22lr up to 10mm. I don't use them for rifles. One caveat; Dogs love them. My Belgian Shepherd pup keeps stealing them. He thinks they're great chew toys, and he's right. They held up well to his chewing too.

I have no idea why the Champion targets, which are absolutely identical to these except for color, cost so much more... These Caldwell targets are a much better deal. We have at least one of every shape and size they make, and they all have been hit literally hundreds of times. They have all withstood it all amazingly well - I have no doubt whatsoever that they will stand up to hundreds more. We have even found 5.56 & 9mm rounds stuck in them. A word of caution: 22lr & shotgun loads WILL ricochet back at the the shooter with substantial velocity - enough to bruise the skin! Use with center fire rifles and handguns only (hopefully it goes without saying to ALWAYS wear proper shooting protection!!) I prefer the round ones using a rifle - they roll a good ways with every hit, making each follow-up shot just that much more difficult.

I was skeptical at first, but this works great and is a blast. Sure it's going to get dirty, and yes it takes some damage, but it holds up well. .45 slugs don't seem to do much more than smudge it. 5.56 green tip will do a bit of damage, but I still expect a long life from it. Obviously there can be a few issues if you've got tall weeds (you may not be able to see it). It works best in short grass or bare spots. I'd recommend taking along a ziplock bag to bag it after your fun so you can pack it away without making a mess of things.

This ball has been very fun for shooting with .22 long rifle ammo. We have been able to send it down the range with successive shots--having competition to see which shooter hits it the most often. There have been a few pellets that have not penetrated all the way through, and remain lodged in the surface. Other ammo has gone through with mininal damage. Fairly heavy and very durable. Easily seen and moved with contact from ammo. Definitely fun to see how far down the range it will go.

500+ rounds and still going. Sooo much fun to shoot at these. I have 4 of them at the range at once and we just go to town on these, almost indestructible
