my house doesn't smell like dog
My question after owning 104 dog beds: can I wash the cover over and over and over, and will the interior retain it's density? Yes! Dog loves it because it's cushy and comfy. I love it because my house doesn't smell like dog. I chose the medium size so Beagle can stretch out and watch her favorite tv shows and she was so pleased with it, she asked that I order another for her crate. The medium is a snug fit for the crate but works great. The thickness of the cushion has certainly made a difference in how she's able to get up after lying for a long period of time. Again, and most importantly, I can keep it clean. The cover can be easily vacuumed and unzipped for washing. Pet owner tip: Walgreens sells hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle that you can use to spray the foam interior--or anything for that matter--and it will invariably remove any pet smell. Urine, poop, nondescript pet stink, whatever. Seriously, it's the best kept secret. Doesn't discolor. Doesn't just cover up. Anyway, spray the foam bed, and by the time the cover comes out of the dryer, you won't even remember you have a teenager. I mean a dog. Who's bath time is the responsibility of your 17 year-old. Who's like having a second dog. Don't judge me. Kids are hard. Update: 2+ years and the bed inserts are still fluffy and the washable cover is still fully functioning. I expected the zipper to retire itself at some point, but no. I'm utterly impressed with this product. I have two of these beds. Both covers have been washed at least once a week for over two years. No seam tears, no fraying at the zipper. On another note, said teenager discussed in my original review, who is now 19 and a college sophomore was just home for break. Genius leaves a bag of M&Ms, a sandwich, and a Costo-size bag of Doritos in the living room while venturing back into the kitchen because he needed a 2nd Dr Pepper--after two Mountain Dews (Bad Mom award. I've simply given up the food battle. He's 6'3 and has the physique of an olympic athlete so he's believes he's invincible. I don't know if I'm disgusted or envious). Now, if you don't have a hound, you will never understand that you cannot leave food unattended for even a second. Beagle ate the candy, ate the chips, and finished off the Mountain Dew. I mean, why would one throw away a mostly empty cans of soda on his way back into the kitchen? Oh, and she clearly savored both the sandwich and the delicious signature-stamped tissue it was wrapped in. This took less than 45 seconds. What happened 30 minutes later was that of a crime scene because Genius decided to jail the dog in her crate for behavior unbecoming and head upstairs. I'll refrain from graphic details, but bed was duck taped closed inside of an industrial strength garbage bag and sent directly to the trash. Replacement ordered without hesitation. Posting another photo of Beagle after she'd plead guilty and suffering a binge hangover on her two year-old bed. And yes, you better believe I made Genius clean up the mess. Messes. Plural. For three days. "MOM! I need help! MOM!" Nope. Not a two person job, kid. Good Mom award.

The greatest dog bed ever!
I honestly can’t say enough to explain how much our dog loves this bed and how durable it is! We got this bed for him when he was only 6 months old and so small he only took up half the space. He had chewed a hole in his original puppy bed so I needed to find something sturdier, and his little corgi stumpy legs needed something easy to climb in and out of. I also wanted something supportive for him because corgis are prone to hip problems in older age, so I settled on buying this memory foam with it’s nice durable cover and it might be the single greatest Amazon purchase I ever made. He loved the bed immediately, so much that he didn’t even try to chew it up. I swear this thing cast some sort of magical spell on him, he was so comfy that he didn’t even want to mess with it. He is now 6.5 and the bed was still sturdy as ever! It’s supported him all through his life, it’s moved multiple homes and even states (so he slept on it on the long drive to move) and it’s never frayed, never worn thin, never gotten too flat - it has lasted all this time and he loves it just as much as ever! He has several other beds but doesn’t love any of them nearly as much as this one, he will always choose this one over others. The cover is so easy to take off and wash too, and I saw in another review someone suggested just getting a spray bottle of hydrogen peroxide at the drug store and spraying the foam insert lightly to clean it and that had worked out great for us. I’m so glad this bed is still in stock because we just had to buy a new one. Not because anything broke down with the bed itself - it was still in great shape, but sadly our cat had an accident on it that soaked through and we couldn’t salvage it. But we ordered the exact same bed and as you can see in the last photo, my dog was so happy to have it back that he didn’t even let the memory foam fluff up or let me cut the tag off before he got on - he climbed in bed immediately after I unboxed the new one, just as in love with it as the original. Seriously, if you are debating whether or not your dog will like this bed, just buy it. It is worth every penny and if your baby is anything like mine, they will be 100% certified obsessed with this bed for life, and it really will last them for life! I’m so impressed with the quality and durability of this thing, and my dog clearly is too.

The Only Bed My Elderly, Stubborn Cat Has Ever Liked...
This is actually one of the few reviews I've written for a product on Amazon but I had to get on and do it because this bed is amazing. My 8 year old, 15 pound male cat, Toby, has been with me since he was a kitten and has been accustomed to *always* sleeping in the bed with me (and now also my husband). This cat is a clinger and makes a huge amount of noise if he's not allowed to get in the bed. He has flat-out refused to use any cat bed I've bought him for his entire life but I've developed adult asthma and am now struggling with allergies. His big spring shed is unfortunately making it worse and I've been told by my doctor that he has to be transitioned out of sleeping in the bed with us (especially at night, but also during the day when he likes to nap on the mattress). This is traumatic for all of us. I love having him there at night, he's always always slept with me, but unfortunately it's now important for my health that he sleeps in his own special place(s). Enter a lengthy search to find the *perfect* bed for him and a large amount of worry that he would refuse to use it. I finally ordered this one in the 17 X 11 size to place on top of his cat condo, which he occasionally sits on during the day, in hopes that he would find it comfortable and decide he liked it better than the bed. He hates being on the ground and he loves looking at the birds out the window, so this was a hopeful compromise. We got the bed three days ago. It fit imperfectly on his cat condo, as it's a square and this mat is a rectangle. There were bits that had no cushioning but I put THREE of his favorite fuzzy blankets on it in hopes that maybe he wouldn't notice the gaps. He refused to jump up on it for the first few hours as it would have required a higher jump than he's used to and he's nothing if not fussy. We tried gently placing him on it and enticing him with treats...still nothing. He fussed at us and jumped off to head to the bedroom. I was close to giving up hope. But then magic happened -- he decided, sometime in the late evening when we were out, to jump up on it and (in an incredible twist) didn't move for the rest of the day. He didn't even come in the bedroom at night and fuss to be let up on the bed! It's been three days and he's still basically glued to it, only getting off for an occasional stroll or to eat or potty. Otherwise, he's been happily either napping or looking out the window. He seems to have made do with the fact that it doesn't quite fit the space by either laying along it or putting his top half on it and letting his bum and back legs sit against the entertainment center right next to his perch. I wish I'd gotten him a bigger one, even if it had hung off, so he could spread out more but at least I know he'll use it now and can get him a larger size later. I'm truly impressed. I had doubts about whether this would transition him out of the bed and honestly he's stubbornly ignored every single bed I've ever offered him. He's also needy, older, and particular about where he sleeps so the fact that he likes this bed is honestly miraculous. Truly magical! Here's a photo of him contentedly napping, you can see the bed under his blankets.

Pretty close to the picture...
I ordered this bed over others, mainly because it fit our large kennel. It is very close to what was expected, but I will agree with other commenters that it isn't stuffed as well as it could be. It isn't bad.... it's padded enough for my dogs so I'm not feeling like it needs to go back, it just isn't stuffed nearly as much as the photos lead you to believe. That is the only reason for the four star rating. There is a zipper to the interior of the bed so more memory foam can be added. At some point, I may pick up a couple of memory foam pillows and add a bit more to it. It also had a bit of a "memory foam" odor, but I'm not terribly sensitive so after leaving outside for the day to air out, it was okay. I also washed the cover right after opening the package as the bed itself was airing out. That helped clear out the smell as well. Within a few days the smell was gone. The cover is nice and seems well constructed. If your dog chews up beds, then this bed won't last (of course) but for "normal" doggy use, such as occasional scratching to fluff up the bed, this is just fine. We have had this bed for about a month and it is still in great condition. No problems with the fabric, zippers, or anything of that nature. I don't know if I'd buy again, simply because for the price, I expected it to be stuffed a bit more.... but overall it is a good dog bed. Update: It's been about 6 months and these beds have held up really well. The covers have been washed many times and look as good as new. My dogs also like to scratch up the bed to fluff it up and you can't even tell. While I don't think it was stuffed as well as it could have been in the first place, the stuffing hasn't permanently collapsed or degraded in any way so it still seems about the same as when we got it. Not waterproof, so if you have an accident prone dog you will probably want to consider some kind of a waterproof crib sheet under the cover to protect it. (Kind of wish I had done that... My dog got sick on it and it did leak through a little to the memory foam. I sprayed it really well with a pet odor neutralizer and let it air out while washing the cover. It aired out fine but I still wish I had protected it better. Clean up would have been easier.)

Buy it and stop wasting time shopping!
After 5 hours of reading dog bed reviews on a rainy Saturday, I finally decided to go with this one. We are not disappointed! As stated, it has channels with memory foam chunks and it really does keep its shape (doesn’t dip In the middle). I laid on it when it came and didn’t want to get up. I thought for a second about buying a few and making it my bed lol. Let it fluff out for a day after you open it. It WILL increase in size and decrease in smell. I bought the hugest one and covered it with a standard crib sheet for ease of washing-it fits perfectly (thanks, vet lady reviewer!). The cover comes off when it needs a good washing but I’m not into stuffing a bed back into its case weekly, hence the sheet. A 55lb blue heeler and a 50lb catahoula enjoy this bed. She curls when sleeping but he will stretch out when lying so consider how your dogs sleep if you are thinking of getting one for them to share. It is just big enough when they lay with their backs touching in the middle and they both are stretched out. Their heads hang off the side when they do that but I think they like it because they hang their heads on the floor even when they’re alone on it. I haven’t heard any fights in the night about space, but the blue heeler mostly still sleeps on top of me so my study is inconclusive on that front. The catahoula is 9 and starting to get rusty. WD40 doesn’t seem like a good option, but this bed seems to please her very much. I have no children so I do the best I can for my Furkins. This bed is the best I have bought over the years. Winner!!! Update: it’s now 2019 and these beds are still in awesome condition. My dogs love these. The whole thing is quite durable. If they ever wear out, I’ll buy again in a heartbeat. Update: 2022 and beds are still fantastic. Glad I spent the money on these products!

Exceptional dog bed
I bought this for a pound puppy I recently adopted. I have another dog bed for my 4 year old border collie, and I was so impressed with this bed that I'm buying him one to match. This bed is very supportive, washes well, it's easy to get the cover back on, and I like that it has two sides for the dog's comfort. That said, the new dog wants to claw at and bite at the "cool" side. This side of the fabric will easily shred, as it's thinner material. ANY fabric is going to shred if a dog chews at it, common sense really, so you simply have to train the dog against those destructive behaviors. I got on her about it before any tears occurred, and I have noticed that she prefers the plush side, so that's the side I keep up for her. The puppy is no longer abusing her bed and actually loves going to it for a nap. I like that the inside is packed shredded foam, because the bed can be fluffed easily and has the perfect amount of fill to keep the bed firm enough, with a gentle crown across the middle. Our older dog bed is memory foam, and it compressed fairly easily under a 35 pound dog. This bed is attractive and of very good quality, but it is not indestructible (but neither are furniture, upholstery, carpet, slippers, dog toys). If properly used, it will last a long time.

Really comfy daytime bed for 34 lb dog
We wanted to replace the extra dog bed in the house and I was looking for one that I’d be easy to drag until the porch (so not a fabric bottom) and easy to wash the cover. This bed fits both of those bills. It’s an easy zip on zip off cover. I won’t speak to waterproof ness, that’s not why we got it, I just wanted to be able to easily clean it after taking it outside and you definitely can. That said, the shredded memory foam in this is AWESOME. Our dog is 34 pounds and it’s about the perfect amount of squish for her. We got her a bed with a solid 4” thick piece of foam in it before, and while she definitely doesn’t hit the bottom In that one I also feel like it’s a little TOO much support, in that it’s stiffer than she likes. This one squished and decent amount but because it’s nice quality memory foam shreds (not cheap poly fill) it’s not flattening. It squished right back when she gets up. She normally prefers a bed that has cozy sides because likes to sleep in a ball up against edges, but she has taken to sleeping on this one in the day time too, sometimes instead of the couch even (her favorite thing). Honestly wish this also came in a version that had the same memory foam shred mattress but with cuddler walls around it. I am considering buying a second one to take out the block foam in her normal nighttime bed and put the mattress from this one in there she has the best of both worlds. My *only* complaint is that if she licks the bed a little around her paws it definitely shows a dark wet spot until it dries (this is the light grey color). After drying it’s fine though. It is a nice looking bed too! Love the colorful trim edge!

Use a trashbag/liner to protect the insides!
Update: I nearly ruined this bed trying to wash it after my dog peed in his kennel. The insides took a full 24 hours to dry, after being run in the dryer multiple times. I ended up letting it sit outside in the sun to dry, which fortunately saved the bed. If you're getting this, use a trashbag or a liner around the insides of this bed! You will need to wash it, and it's a lot easier to replace a trashbag or wipe it down than it is to wash the insides of the bed! The outside cover washes fine for me; it's been through at least 3-4 times since we got it a month or two ago and there's no damage to it My puppy's first bed was a cotton filled one, and he chewed a hole in it. He hasn't had a bed for about a month now, and we sprung for this when we got the money. First impressions of the bed are good. It feels a lot heavier and sturdier than the other, but I don't think it's heavy duty enough to keep big time chewers at bay. I'm hoping his bones and toys being in the kennel will keep him occupied, cause I feel like he could put a hole in this one if he really tried. Bed looks nice and feels nice, and it fits in his 30x19 kennel perfectly :) Kind of obvious that you aren't supposed to wash the inside of this bed (that's usually the case with ones with removable covers) so I don't recommend doing it.

well made bed for dog
The bed is made of material that is scratch proof. My puppy tried to scratch it during the first few days and the material still as good as new.

Truly great dog bed!
This dog bed is wonderful! I read several reviews on this product and I have to say I would agree with most of the other reviewers thoughts on this bed, which I think speaks volumes on the consistency of quality and design. If I were to summarize what the most repetitive comments are in the reviews, it'd be something like: "Love the bed, love the quality and look of it, love how easy it is to clean, the dog loved it right away, so comfortable people lay on it with the dog (or without), we bought another one almost immediately". The long of it: We have a French Bulldog, Stella, who recently had surgery so we were looking for a comfortable yet supportive bed for her during recovery. This product fit the bill exactly for us. Stella went to this bed immediately to lay down and spends most of the day resting on it. It's worth mentioning that while we have tried in the past to have her become a dog who sleeps on a dog bed, she always ended up on our bed or the couch. Now, she sleeps the entire night on this bed! That did it for us, we were so blown away that she was actually using it that we bought a second one about 2 weeks after the first - one for upstairs, one for downstairs. She loves it so much, so we are thrilled with our purchase(s) and felt the need to share this feedback to anyone considering this dog bed. Also, feel the need to reiterate what the other reviewers have said about the negative reviews. This bed has quality construction and would probably fare pretty well against some light chewing (compared to less expensive options), but it is by no means indestructible. In my opinion, it is unreasonable to give it a one star rating simply because your dog chewed through it. The second most stated negative review is that people have put the entire bed into the wash and destroyed it. The product comes with instructions that very clearly tell you NOT to put the insert into the wash and to only wash the removable cover. So yes, if you know your dog to be a chewer, if you have a puppy that is teething or potty training and you're worried you won't be able to clean it if your dog has an accident, then this probably is not the right bed for your dog, otherwise do not put much stock in these reviews when making your decision.

Nice sturdy bed
First off, this pillow / cushion / bed is sturdy and looks like it’ll last for years. I don’t know yet how water resistant or easy to clean it is. A little bit of background: We have a 20 pound rescue and a 10 pound rehome. Interesting mix, and good buddies at times, testy siblings at others. The bigger one got used to sitting with the front door open (screen shut) during the summer to watch dog TV almost all day. She loved it, and it was great for us because I didn’t have to keep letting her in and out of the back yard in between our walks. The “open door policy” worked well in the warmer weather. Not now. And though it has gotten quite a bit cooler (read colder), she’s not unhappy about it, so she’s been pawing me to have her doggy door dog TV on. And because she does not sit on furniture (chairs, sofas, beds, even laps) there’s nothing we could prop at the window for her to look out from as an alternative. So I decided that maybe she’d be willing to try climbing a few steps to a magic perch at the window sill. And then she could watch the world go by at her leisure. So we had that built for her. Our little guy has it figured out and whips up and down without an issue. He just hasn’t gotten the hang of sitting long enough to appreciate the view. But our bigger girl still needs to be plopped on the platform, then cuddled while she’s sitting there. It’ll take time. The pillow is a good size for our little boy to sit or lie down on, but though our bigger girl likes curling into spaces this size (17” x 11”), I think she’ll just stick with sitting on it when she gets used to using it. (Downsizing to a smaller home means cutting corners where we can, so we didn’t opt for a larger version.) And for those hoping for a really dense amount of foam for extra comfort, ours is more than the 3” deep size the information says it should be. It’s 3-1/2”. And hopefully this pillow will help with our girl becoming a cat dog in the window. It’s nicely constructed, seems very sturdy, and as someone else pointed out, the material is washable but not waterproof, so I put a waterproof pillow cover around the material encasing the stuffing inside the outer fabric. I would recommend it.
