how effective is it with gophers? since gophers only briefly and occasionally come above ground I would not expect it to be effective.

It repels (pocket) gophers quite well but needs to be reapplied every 4-6 weeks, or when signs of new activity reappear. I mix with kitty litter (the cheapest kind) about 1 cup oil to 8 parts litter. Takes about a day to be fully adsorbed, then spread like fertilizer where you want the gophers gone from. Water it in, it works underground. Gophers don't like it and leave within a day or two.

Before using castor oil lawn care, what is the reccommended mixture ratio? ratio

One gallon water, one cup castor oil, one cup Dawn dishwashing detergent. You can substitute for Dawn, but I like it best.
