Illustrations are very useful
The illustrations are very helpful for learning how to use the exercises in the water. This book is very practical and easy to read, not much fluff. I exercise for well-being; my favorite exercise is swimming. This book has allowed me to add more to my swimming in order to exercise other muscle groups. I would recommend its purchase. I gave 4 stars because some of it is dated and a new edition (to show some of the new aquatic equipment) would be welcomed. That being said though, the exercises can be adapted.

Be your own aqua pilates therapist.
I can't make the aqua classes but like to use the pool for keeping my joints from stiffening up. Our gym is used by re-hab practicioners during those elusive classes and the equipment-other than the typical noodles and kickboards, intimidated me until I had this book to show which tools aided which muscle groups, how to use them properly and why I would want to.Now, I choose 6-8 exercises and repeat sets for an hour 3 times a week. It feels great. One of the physical therapists complemented my routine when she finished working with a client and asked who trained me. I showed her the book (I keep it with my towel) and she was impressed with the clear drawings and instructions.I have a few other books on this subject but they are long-winded and most of the photos are not the best. When you are in the water and want a quick glance to the next exercise you don't want to have to read a few paragraphs and study 3-6 pictures to see the evolution of the move with wet hands. That's good info if your studying to train others or you need to get an in depth scientific understanding of what this is doing for your joint, tendons, muscles, connective tissue, etc... which you wouldn't be trying to learn poolside. Instead this book places one well drawn simple exercise and large print easy formatted info on how to do it and what it is designed to do for you on each page. There is a guide in the last third of the book that tells you which pages to group for specific therapies to ailments or which to group to train a segment of your body like you would when using gym machines and free weights or resistance bands.I am quite happy with this useful guide!

A Good Introduction, With Useful Exercise Suggestions
Can you get in a pool and fool around and get some fitness benefit? Well, sure. Are there exercises and moves that you don't think of that, when added, get you more bang for your fitness effort? Again, yes. This book was a fine and relatively inexpensive option for putting together a program that paid off in terms of flexibility, strength and increased all around activity. Water exercise can be safe and beneficial, and this is a fine book for getting you on track.

Didn't know what to expect but it was a great help
I bought this book to help devise a workout program to help me get fit, manage diabetes and lose weight. I wasn't crazy about getting into a bathing suit but I had to do something and developing arthritis in my knees made walking a less attractive choice. Getting in the pool has been a real boon. I started out with the basic exercises but this book allowed me to expand that with specific exercises that help keep the routines from getting boring. I don't mind the line drawings. I just need information on how to do it and the type of illustration doesn't matter. I especially like the routines for specific injuries or problems. It isn't fancy but it's informative.

78 Water Exercises
Great book! I wanted to be able to use my time more productively in water. Also, I was looking for a way to help the trouble I was having with my feet. The book is divided into several parts - some for more shallow water and then for working in the deep end so you can stretch out and work your long muscles. I also have an aerobics class in the water and this fits in very well when I'm working outside of class. At the end, she lists several problems and things you can do for each of them. The water is a wonderful thing to give your body as all pressure you have on land is taken away in the water. Also, your exercising without hurting yourself. Well worth it!

Great book for healing
I wish they could change this book into an app for cross referencing. I injured my knee, had meniscus surgery, and thanks to this book and some exercises on you tube, I have made a total recovery. Much faster than at physical therapy. It seems that whatever you do in water is so much easier than on land, and once on land, you can still do it, and it doesn't hurt.Everything is clear and cross referenced for different injuries, and tons of clear illustrations

The best book I have ever read for water exercises.
Fantastic book for water exercises. I have had a total hip replacement and a knee replacement. It is hard to find exercises that don't hurt. This book is full of wonderful exercises for beginner, intermediate and advanced. I tore out the pages and sealed them in plastic bags so that I can take the pictures to the pool and be sure I do the exercises correctly.

Feeling better already.
As a novice to water aerobics, this book was very helpful in providing me with the information that I needed to start a safe and effective program. I combined this information with some equipment and music and have started an informal group at our residential club. So far, very exciting. Fifteen of us are feeling better already.

Water Exercise
I purchased this book to do foot physiotherapy exercises for a recent foot reconstruction. Also, being in bed for more than six months I had lost muscle strength in my legs, arms etc. This book is awesome. I brought it into physiotherapy and the therapist said it was an excellent book. She marked all the exercises I should start with and then moved on to more difficult exercises in the book. This book is also good for seniors trying to maintain strength and others who require motion exercises. The book covers all parts of the body and shows the difficulty level of each exercise. It recommends a program to follow.
