Basic but WELL MADE!!!
This is a very basic macro rail at a great entry price. I've wanted other brands for a long time but this came up on my suggested. I wasn't sure as it didn't have many reviews on here or YouTube.Let me state that there is ZERO BACKLASH OR PLAY IN THE GEARING!!! The unit is basic but very well made and solid to use. I am an engineer by day and photographer part time. This macro rail is a great entry point to the macro photography niche.I would recommend to anyone unsure as it's not too expensive and very well made for the price point.

Essential Equipment for Macro Photographers and Excellent Value for Money
This specialist photographic equipment; Macro Focusing Rail (160 mm), is ‘identical’ in design and functionality (and probably quality) to more expensive RRS product. However, I have bought Haoge Arca Swiss L-Plates & Plates for cameras and other product - but, these have never failed me and they are of high quality (design and materials). This Macro focusing rail is primarily for finer control for close-up flower and photo-stacking image making. To get sturdy and stable photography with this equipment - it must be integrated with Arca Swiss tripod plate and camera with either Arca L-Plate or Baseplate quick release system.I highly recommend this Haoge’s focusing rail ‘specialist’ equipment for macro photography - excellent value for money!

Really sturdy.
I'm delighted with this rail, it is really sturdy and there is no play in the screw, it is really well made with lasered increments on the adjustment knob. I fixed the bottom of the rail to my tripod mount and my camera to the top with my quick release mount without a problem and it still has a solid feel to it.

Decent quality, but no camera plate.
This is the third macro slider I've purchased so far. The first (cheap, now sitting in a cupboard) and the second (expensive and returned to Amazon) were both sticky and changed position when you turned the knob. This one (mid-price) is the smoothest of the three. Finally smooth enough to do proper macro stacking, and it appears to be well built. The knobs are a bit small but they turn easily and there are markers so you can be fairly accurate in consistently turning the knob the same number of degrees. But for some unknown reason it doesn't come with a camera plate. I've never bought a tripod or accessory that doesn't have one in my life. Luckily I found one from an old ball head that seems to fit, but if you're not a camera hoarder like me you'll have to fork out extra for a plate and hope it fits.I considered returning this one as well, but decided to keep it - mostly because, after my other experiences, I'm not sure there's anything better on the market.

Overpriced
Overpriced. Difficult to turn the small nobs

Poorly placed mount
For this price I expected the mount to the tripod, to be dead centre and not on the left or right side. This would mean weight would be more towards one side and thus adds an unnecessary risk element to the macro stacking photography.

Use Haoge tripod QR plate so the off-center 1/4" holes are a benefit.
Another review "Poorly placed mount" says an off-center tripod-mount hole is risky. With the"Haoge HQR-RY90 Double type Quick Release Plate" - ASIN B08Y8P4KYWyou can mount it using TWO screws, so it is even safer than a single-hole mount!Fits Manfrotto 500 and 700 series.
