'A personal, fun and positive book encouraging dietary diversity and NOT calorie counting' Professor Tim Spector, author of The Diet Myth and Spoon-Fed 'Empowering' Hello! magazine Why stress causes weight gain How fasting makes you less hungry Why sunflower oil is unhealthy How cold showers can cut your carb cravings 'If I could give you one bit of advice right now, it would be to take all the energy you're putting into fad diets and put it into becoming the most genuinely healthy version of you. If you've got a plan, you're already halfway there. And now you've got this book, you've got one.' Davinia Taylor was overweight, depressed and unmotivated. She couldn't walk around the block, let alone go for a run or do an exercise class, and she struggled to keep up with her four young sons. In desperation she turned to biohacking to sort her head out - the unexpected bonus was that she lost nearly three stone and has kept it off for years through a series of health tricks from cold showers, to MCT oil, to ancestral eating. She spent tens of thousands of pounds on specialists and Harley Street doctors, trying the most cutting-edge therapies available, only to discover that the true secrets of feeling amazing are very easy and affordable. Start with eating for your mental health, and weight loss is an effortless side effect. Divided into four sections: Mood, Food, Movement and Rest, the book takes a holistic approach to weight loss, reminding you that true health is not just about what you eat. It's Not a Diet concludes with a two-week reset programme to put Davinia's advice into action easily and achievably. Amazing book!
This book is incredible. It was recommended by a pal who has lost 2.5 stone. She had joint issues and hormone issues and is perimenopausal. I have hyper mobile joint disorder and I had to find something to stop me being in pain. I’ve put on 2 stone during perimenopause and starting HRT. I’m constantly exhausted and finding it hard to keep up my regular exercise which I love and I’m used to. I’m hoping this will help. Davinia talks a lot of sense and she’s funny. It’s full of science (backed up by experts) but it’s also had me giggling and laughter is the best medicine. There’s no crazy fads, no don’t eat this or that milarky, just simple, sensible knowledge. I did the 1:1 diet (formerly known as the Cambridge Diet) because my sister lost loads on it but it made me feel awful! IBS, headaches, muscle fatigue, and joint pain. Sure, I lost weight, it’s massively low in calories but then I got chatting to my friend because losing weight is not the only goal here. Read this book! What have you got to lose?

Brilliant, easy to understand and apply. Sadly not as relevant if you’re a veggie
Like many others I follow Davinia and really enjoy all the research and “self trials” she does, to help inform her followers. The book is great as it’s no-nonsense in its approach. Everything is down to earth, explained well and written in a way that you don’t even need to deeply understand bio hacking, to be able to implement a lot of the advice and suggestions. I also appreciate that you can tell Davinia has been on a long and often winding road on her journey to better health and well-being. It’s an honest book and you can tell Davinia wrote it as it’s very much her style. The only drawback for me personally is that there aren’t many alternatives listed or included, if you’re a vegetarian. I completely get that Davinia isn’t a veggie but selfishly I would have really appreciated some more options being included, especially so I could do the two week kick start/reset more easily.

Mainly a good read
I did enjoy most parts of this book and it has definitely helped reset my mind from bad eating habits post Christmas and well worth a read. I knocked off a star for the following reasons, there were so many recommendations for supplements or similar which I think is unrealistic for most everyday people with busy jobs and limited funds so it would have been nice to have separate lists for absolute musts and nice to haves. I also think she talked too much about organic and grass fed produce… in an ideal worth we would all love to eat everything free range and organic but again it’s unrealistic for the everyday person with a family to feed… it did start making me feel pretty bad about what I am providing for my kids based on my income and not hers and the message started to become negative to me personally. I think the point only needed to be made once or twice. All in all, I am glad I read this book for the kick up the b*** it has given me for 2024!

BLOODY AMAZING BOOK
This book is incredible, its so inspirational and spoken from the heart. She's been there and done something incredible and is happy to share. Some of the things she educates you on are incredible, and once you get your head around what she explains, you get incredible results. After just two weeks I feel amazing not just because I have lost 8 pounds - but the way I feel - not bloated - my stomach for the first time in 30 years feels so much flatter, its incredible - unbelievable really but it really does work. I bought the book then struggled to get time to read it so then downloaded the audio version - which is great. There is a lot to learn but I just made notes as it went along - unless listening to it in the car. I recommend anybody that wants to feel better in their own body to read it !!! Well done Davinia and thanks so much for sharing your knowledge !!!!
