WaterBoss Whole House Salt-Free Scale Control | 600K Gal | WB-WH-DSCLR

I used this filter to fill a 4,500 gallon above ground pool using our well water sprinkler system. Although the water didn't come out crystal clear, it sure was better than if we had filled the pool without an inline filter. It even got rid of the rotten smell. We had issues when we first filled up the pool and it had to be emptied and refilled. So, in total, we used this filter to filter 9,000 gallons of water. We could've rented a carbon filter, but the cheapest rental we found was $350. Now, although the filter is for one time use only, meaning after 600,000 gallons of water, you get rid of it and get a new one, it can be refilled. You can purchase the filtering media, whether is carbon, a sediment filtering media like Turbidex, Iron and Manganese removing media, etc. You'll need to empty all the carbon media first, clean it, add a base of clean gravel and then your media. All in all, this filter worked great for us and I recommend it.

we are very pleased with this water filter system. The water doesn’t smell and it taste good and looks clear. Don’t have any problems with leakage or water flow. My husband found it easy to install.

I bought two of the WaterBoss Whole House filters at the same time - one for myself, and one for my daughter. I installed both, and everything was fine for about a year until one started leaking from the base (the other is still fine to this day, so I guess it's 50/50 on if you get a good one). I called WaterBoss warranty, they took my information and then passed me on to technical support. Was on hold for over an hour without anyone picking up, so chose the option to have them call me back which never happened. Not sure what technical support there would've been anyway as the leak is at the base of the sealed cylinder - not up where the inlet/outlet connections are (which are not leaking). I thought they'd do a warranty replacement but I guess WaterBoss's approach is to just wait for the customer to get frustrated and give up. I don't normally write reviews, but felt the need to warn others given my experience with WaterBoss customer "support".

If you have a 3/4" supply line, you have to reduce it to 3/8" to accommodate fittings. This is not shown anywhere in their installation video or manual.

After 3 months, there is a leak from under the bottom black cap. I will have to call for a replacement within the first year. Installation was easy if you are handy; otherwise, I suggest having a professional do it to avoid leaks and wasted time. The filtered water appears to be much softer. Showers are better, and water is less acidic, resulting in better hair and nails. If the water sits in the pipes unused, especially in a far end of the house, like an upstairs bathroom, far from the water filter and heater, you will notice egg smells for a few seconds until the pipes clear. If you plan to do the install yourself, be prepared to buy better fittings, Teflon tape, elbows, brass valves, PEX piping to guarantee no leaks, PEX clamps, a PEX crimping tool, and protective pipe foam to cover the lines to maintain a cool temperature in the hot months to avoid bacteria growth in the pipes. All in all, it's a fair solution and a better value to soften hard water and an unbalanced PH on a tighter budget, opposed to a 3 3-part system or adding an osmosis system under the sinks. I recommend adding a pre-filter, like a spin-down valve, to pre-filter bigger calcium and sediment deposits before the softener. This should give the filter a little more life. It says 6 years, I'd be happy if I got half of that with no leaks. Hopefully, they replace it without any issues. If I had no leaks, I would have given it a 4. If the parts were of a better quality I would have then given a five. Not, great, not too bad. I would do it again in the same scenario.

Received filter on January 3, 2025. Installed next to our water softener on January 4, 2025. On March 9, 2025 the filter started leaking from between the tank and the black plastic cap where the fittings are. Called company Monday 10 March, but no one was there. Left them a message through their online support via Amazon. Hopefully someone will contact me soon. It's been installed for only 2 months and now I have water on the garage floor. Hopefully we can resolve this so I can update this review. *UPDATE* to review above. The company contacted me and sent another filter. I had to pay the shipping. The new filter has been installed for 30 days now. So far no leaks noted.

Leaks would not mine leaked form the bottom garbage asked for replacement Amazon closed my complain

Salt system is better. Hard water still coats sinks, bathtub and other appliances.
