Homesteader’s dream mill
Update March 30, 2024: Mill still going strong! I buy 50lb bags of spelt. I store it with a pail and gamma lid. Makes great fresh flour for bread and pancakes. Had to make some mods to collect the flour as I have not found the best container to mate up under the mill. I have not used the corn auger yet, but at least I have it!I have ground about 12 lb of spelt, 2-3 lb of rye and hard red spring wheat with it so far. Very well built. It mounted very easy. Plan on a motor. It comes with handle but turned the handle 1000 revolutions for 5 cups of flour. Grinds pretty fine. I don’t see this thing wearing out anytime soon. If your looking to dabble there are cheaper grain mills. If your looking for a serious homesteading, traditional foods lifestyle this is the one!

The ultimate for country living grain grinding
Have used it to grind some large corn kennels for mealie meal with the larger auger. It grinds as advertised. You do not need to go to the gymn after using it. Quite a heavy workout but I like it. Rather that lifting a dead weight, do a workout preparing your food.

Great mill!
This is a great Grain Mill. I bought popcorn for corn mean and hard wheat for bread as my first tries. The corn meal was harder to grind, but took less time than the hard wheat. I wasn't sure which auger to use at first for the corn. Switching the auger was a pain in the butt for one person to do. With a pair of helping hands, the task was MUCH simpler. I thought I had lost one of the keys as it shot out from the spring to somewhere in my basement! The hard wheat is much easier to grind, but it does take a while to do manually (enough for a loaf of bread). However, the results were superb!! I would definitely recommend a bicycle or small motor if speed is an issue. The mill itself is of great quality.

So glad I finally invested in this mill!
Loving my grain mill! I had been admiring this mill for sometime, but though I was pretty sure the product was worth the expense as I had heard so much about it from some of my favorite podcasts, the question was if it would be worth it to me, how often would I use it, and so on. I finally made the plunge and ordered up both organic soft white wheat and organic hard white wheat berries. I LOVE it!. This mill is built well and beautiful. My husband built me a table to mount it on and though he insists on building me an engine, I am totally happy grinding my wheat berries by hand and the difference the fresh ground wheat flour makes in all my breads is wonderful. It was a bit surprising at first just how long it took to grind up three cups of flour but after getting the hang of it, it went much faster. I do equal reps on each arm so both get even work. Just like with my treadle sewing machine that works my legs and lower back, I love how I can do something productive while getting a workout for my upper body. One thing that is clear is that softer grains, though easier to grind than harder grains, take at least twice as long to grind. I sometimes need to use both arms to grind the hard berries but they go through the mill much quicker. I do not mind either way, I just plan my days out working in time to grind my flours. Perfect investment for those who not only want to make healthier, tastier breads for their family, but for those who plan to live (or are living) off-grid.

I love my new mill!
I did a lot of research on grain mills before I decided on this one. I wanted one that would be built to last and be able to be passed down in my family. This one is built like a tank! I couldn't be more pleased. It is a real work out tho turning the handle for a large amount of flour, but usually we only crank out enough for a couple batches of bread and it is more fun than work! We bought the bean auger too which is something you will want to do. One of the nice things that I noticed is you can make green pea or navy bean flour and then you can heat up boiling water on the stove and mix in the flour and in a few minutes you will have pea soup! Just add some leftover veggies from the fridge and you have a instant meal! What more could you ask for??? I would really recommend this product.
