Only for Use in Japan
Warning! This electric blanket is designed for the 100-volt electrical current of Japan, rather than the 110-volt electrical current of the United States.Given that this blanket is for use in Japan, rather than the United States, it’s more sensible and economical to (a) purchase it from Amazon.jp (Amazon’s Japanese affiliate), rather than Amazon.com, and (b) have it shipped directly to a location in Japan. It’s possible to navigate Amazon.jp in English by clicking on the “English” option on the home page. When I purchased my blanket, I had Amazon.jp ship it to a Family Mart convenience store near my hotel in Tokyo, where I was able to pay for it COD.For those who want an electric blanket for use in Japan, I highly recommend this blanket. It exceeded all my expectations. It appears to be one of the best reviewed electric blankets listed on Amazon.jp.Apart from its design for 100-volt Japanese electrical current, this blanket differs from American electric blankets in at least three respects. First, the blanket’s electrical control is built much more solidly than the flimsy controls on American electric blankets. The blanket is manufactured in Japan for Japanese consumers, who probably demand a high build quality.Second, at its highest settings, the blanket can get much hotter than any American electric blanket. That is probably because many Japanese homes lack central heating. The higher maximum electrical load of this blanket may also account, in part, for the high build quality of the electrical control. Finally, unlike American electric blankets, this blanket is somewhat thinner than an ordinary non-electric blanket. That doesn’t affect its performance, which is a function of electrically-derived heat, rather than insulation.
