It is a handy pointer, and good value.
This pencil lead pointer arrived today, and it works very well if you rotate the lead both clockwise, and counter clockwise while sharpening the point of the lead. Other reviewers said it didn't put o sharp point on the lead, but if you do as listed early in my review you WILL get a nice point. Also I tried it on several size leads, and found it worked 1.1mm up to 4mm leads, not just 2mm leads as listed. It is a suprising little sharpener. In my opinion it is a good buy.

Works well
Mine works well. You twist the pencil back and forth and the lead gets super sharp. There's no mess, easy to store and I love how it looks!

Can’t get a very fine point
It’s definitely a light weight and good looking design. It works really well for a compact pencil case. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a very fine point with this.Out of curiosity, I pulled the middle part out. It’s a very interesting design. The metal piece is not constructed by blades, so you are essentially scraping the lead instead of sharpening it. The only down side is that the angle for the middle point does not give you a very fine point, which is a little disappointing. I really wish they put in more thoughts for this, since the rest of the design is so perfect. If you push to hard, it also gives you a weird point. See the attached picture.Art alternative still has the best result and user experience, but it’s too big for my compact pencil case. I also got uni, which is a good compromise, but the pencil has to be perfect perpendicular to the sharpener, otherwise the lead might break and get stuck in there.

Not Brass, But Works Well Enough
First thing first, I don’t think this lead sharpener is made of brass. The material is on the lightweight side and feels rather soft, probably aluminum with a golden finish. So keep in mind that the ‘Brass’ in its title is really describing the color/finish. I chose this style because I want a lead sharpener for my travel sketch kit. I have another OHTO sharpener which works best at home but doesn’t hold the shavings. So the ability to sharpen my pencil without making a mess is what matters most to me. I also want to mention that I have tried the uni lead sharpener in the past, which also holds the shavings well. However, my uni one does not last and keep breaking the lead now after a few months of light use.Although I’m disappointed by the fact that this lead pointer is not made of solid brass, its simple design seems less fragile, and the portability suits my needs well. It’s still overpriced in my opinion.

You will need this for your 2mm pencil
Gotta keep the pencil sharp. This is small, lightweight, and sharpens easy. If you buy a 2mm pencil you will need this. Cheap price and it works.

Odd design, but works just the same.
One of strangest pointers I've seen, but works like a charm. In my experience I have had two different types of lead pointers. One is what I call the long point and the there the short point. The long point sharpener make a long tapering point, while very sharp it is also fragile and breaks easily; the other type the short point sharpener which is this type make a short tapering point which whole sharp wears down more quickly, but is not a fragile as the long point and so does not break as easily. I use mostly soft 2mm lead, I prefer the short point and tend to grab this pointer more often. I also misplace it more often.

Worked badly for a few weeks, and then completely stopped working.
I bought this lead pointer after I lost the very small one I had been using for years. I was hoping that this one would do the job, and because of its larger size, would be harder to lose track of. Well, after owning it for a couple of months, I can say that it is indeed harder to lose, but it worked fairly badly when I first got it, and today, when I tried using it, it barely made a dent in the pencil lead.If it was possible to give a product zero stars, that is what I would give this one. ABSOLUTELY USELESS.

It sharpens 0.7mm~2.0mm leads
This very cute JDI (Japanese Direct Import) lead pointer is made of full brass body and feels very light on hand. It is about 2.5 inches long and half inch wide with a screw type cap on top, and it fits inside the pencil case perfectly. It sharpens 2mm lead as well as 1.3, 0.9, 0.7mm leads; any leads smaller than 0.7mm falls right through the sharpening blades, and I haven't tried lead sizes over 2mm yet. I highly recommend this for the built quality and design.
