Will the medium be too big for a baby that’s 10lbs 9oz? My daughter is super long, so her size S fits her everywhere, besides the length.

The size guidelines they have seem to be pretty true to size. Go by height rather than weight.

What is the length of the large size?

The larger size is 40 inches long. It's definitely a toddler size for babies 18-36 mos. Remember that baby's feet should have extra room at the bottom to move around.

Notice any pilling on knees of jammies while using this sleep sack?

We've used these sleep sacks for over 6 months. No, we have not noticed any pilling on the knees (or anywhere) on jammies. These are high quality sleep sacks, much nicer than halo and other brands.

Will the small be usable on a 5 1/2 pound baby or will the neck and shoulders be too wide?

The recommendations for weight and size on the small size are 10-18lb and 22-26" as per their website. So, I would think it would be a bit wide. I have the 6-18m size and the sizes do run a little big.
