I bought this product in order to harvest the fruit on my longan tree, and a lot of the fruit is pretty high up and also not reachable with a ladder because other obstacles are in the way. I opted for the one that reaches up to ten feet instead of the shorter three to six feet version. It came in a box and not too well packaged, so luckily nothing was damaged, but if the package was not well handled, then the tool would have been knocked around all over the box, and even the cutting edge and the handle were not well protected or well cushioned. But luckily it arrived intact. The only issue was there were zero instructions on there, and initially when I tried to use it, the grasping mechanism wasn't really firing consistently, but luckily this was due to the mechanism that controls how far the pruner extends not really engaging during transport. So once that was engaged, the grasping mechanism worked perfectly. Overall the tool is perfect. I think the handle works way better than the pulling mechanism, and it also has the cut-and-hold feature so that you can cut from high up and then you can grasp it, and the fruit won't fall down. It's probably less relevant if you're just trimming a tree, but for harvesting fruit, the cut-and-hold mechanism is important. Otherwise the fruit's going to fall ten feet to the ground and break. It's nice that the handle can rotate about 180 degrees so you can trim either direction and have it hold the thing that you cut off. There is another official product versus this copycat, and the official product probably costs $30 to $40 more, and I opted for this because I'm only going to use it a few times a year. But it has the same functions in terms of adjusting the angle of the cutting head.

It is well built with good materials and is very sharp. I had to cut and remove some overgrown plants that was growing between the plants that I wanted to keep. The red piece that is part of the grabber helps you keep track of where the cutting head is when you have to reach deep in the overgrowth. The grabbing function of this tool when you cut the plant is well thought out and saves you from having to jump into the bushes to retrieve your cuttings. This works better than listed. I would recommend this tool.

Lightweight but very strong even when fully extended. Easy to use at multiple extensions and cuts a wide range of yard products from very thin vines to half-inch branches. If documentation had been included, I'd have given it 5 stars. It's simple and can be figured out with a little trial-and-error except for one common problem with the cutting blades not working on occasion when the trigger is pressed. That's the subject of the ONE frequently asked question and should have been included as a note with the product rather than making users look for it online.

After having to climb up on a ladder for years to prune our tall climbing roses, I found this handy extendable pruner. It's lightweight, compared to the heavy loppers I used in the past to reach higher, and is very easy to use. I really had no idea that something like this existed. I've also found it useful for deadheading my roses and other plants in the garden. The only thing I'm not totally happy with is the fact that the little grippy teeth that hold onto the branch or stem you're pruning only works intermitently. Stems around one quarter inch or so in diamater are held firmly until you release the handle. Smaller stems won't be held reliably. Not really a big deal. Overall I would recommend this pruner.

Terrible product. It replaced a Stihl pole pruner which was excellent. There were no instructions with this product (which shouldn’t need any). After trying all the moving parts, I couldn’t even get it to close the blade. 0 stars is too many for this product.

As a Certified Arborist and professional Tree Service owner I can say this small pole pruner is one of the most effective, best made and best designed pruning tools that I have ever purchased ......... made of quality material .....totally adjustable and effective for both pruning and harvesting fruit and seed pods ...... The diameter of cuts that recommend is about 1/4" on Hardwoods but on soft plants like Plumeria or Bird of Paradise I can easily cut 3/4" pieces ......Also you must re-adjust or rotate the pole to engage the cutting blades when you lengthen or shorten the reach of this fine tool ..........Again as a professional I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the "GARTOL Pruner" and I would recommend this tool to both professional Arborists like myself as well as beginners learning to prune.......from J.S. It works. It will cut small branches, but don't try anything remotely thick. It cut easily if the branch was small enough. My big issue with it is there are no instructions on how to operate or adjust. I really wanted it so I could pick fruit that was out of my reach without dropping them and it's a painful trial and error process. The apples I tried to pick just fell to the ground. I never did figure it out. It comes assembled, but in my case there was a knob floating around in the box and I had to search their products on line to try and see a picture of where it might go. I also struggled with getting the clippers to open because I didn't find the safety lock right away.

I bought the pruner for cutting weeping willow blanches that are higher than the hedge trimmer can cut, they hang straight down so they are hard to cut with regular pruners, the pruners work well but they don’t cut any branches thicker than a pencil, the price is a little high for what you get they are light weight feel a little flimsy, I trimmed my tree with no issues but with time I guess I’ll see how well they hold up.
