Hurry Home, Hedgehog!: A Bilingual Book of Sounds

The illustrations are cute and the story teaches a lot of onomatopoeia. This is one of my son's favorite books. After we read it the first time, he ran around saying "hua la la" and the other sounds. We are native English speakers teaching our sons English and Mandarin. I would prefer that the pinyin be incorporated with the story text, because I have to flip to the back of the book to read and it kind of interrupts the story.

We checked out Squirrel Round and Round when my son was 15 months and he loved it. We bought Hurry Home, Hedgehog - he is now 18 months - and he likes this one even better. Yay Belle Yang! The baby makes sound effects along with the coming rain and has a little stuffed hedgehog that must accompany the readings. Now when it rains outside we say "ping pang" as the rain hits. Great fun! Plus great hugs when hedgehog finds his mommy.

Sweet little book with text in Chinese characters as well as English words (and pinyin pronunciation at the back of the book).

This bilingual book would be the perfect Chinese New Years gift for a youngster or a nice surprise any time of the year. Young readers will follow the little hedgehog as he seeks shelter as a storm appears. Belle Belle Yang...hurry home!What? Your name is not Belle Belle?Well... let me tell you a secret, 刺猬 is the correct name in Chinese for hedgehog, not 刺猬猬. There is no such thing as 刺猬猬. I really wanted to buy this book for my son until I saw the Chinese title. The title is not even correct!

My daughter loves hedgehogs. This book offers lovely illustrations and a sweetly simple storyline to engage younger readers and pique their interest in the accompanying Chinese text. Fun to read aloud in English, too!
