Extraordinary Orchids

This coffee table book is profusely illustrated by reproductions of old illustrations from back in the day when artists painted images. There is also text discussing some of the amazing features of this incredibly diverse group of plants, which was rewarding. Understanding the text, especially the complexities of pollination of orchids, would have been facilitated by addition of a diagram illustrating the parts of a typical flower. Despite this minor criticism, the book is well worth the price just for the illustrations.Kurt E. Johnson, PhD
