Elegant Book You’ll Be Proud To Display
After watching a video on this designer’s home, I knew I had to have his book. And boy, am I glad I purchased this ! It’s chock full of lavish, vividly colored photos of sophisticated rooms which provide endless “open book” display opportunities ! Inside the dust jacket, the cover is a saturated navy blue, with the title embossed. Inside, the ornate designs and upscale interiors will have you gazing at it for hours. This is a book for maxamalists: those who crave color and appreciate beauty; those who gravitate towards elegance and refinement. John Phifer Marrs knows how to incorporate collections seamlessly into a room’s design without making the space feel cluttered or disorganized. If you collect anything and are at a loss for how to set it off to best advantage, here is where to turn. Marrs’ work is positively inspirational!!!As an aside, I was displeased with the manner in which the book was shipped: it arrived in a padded envelope which didn’t provide enough protection to prevent the corners from getting bent (see photo).

Design inspiration on displaying collections.
This book is a wealth of design inspiration on displaying beloved collectibles as a meaningful part of ones life. The author tells how a well concocted and carefully curated display, allows for a higher level of enjoying a personal collection. Beautiful photographs with collections displayed as a part of life. Marrs implores us to create displays for our collections that become the backdrop in a life well lived, imbuing every day with flair, beauty, and elegance.

Wonderful book for collectors or anyone who might want to be one.
The great thing about this book is that it shows the entire collecting world in all it's uniqueness. There are certainly gun and African dioramas that can only be dreamed about down to porcelain objects that are very obtainable. Two things I enjoyed seeing was the variety of things that can be collected and the different ways to display them.Highly recommended in today's world where many of wonderful older items are available at lower prices."If you have three of anything you have a collection."

Full of Great Ideas for Displaying Collections
The book is beautifully produced, with lots of lovely photos of collections in homes, as described. The methods of best displaying collections to advantage are well explained and thoughtfully presented. This is an enjoyable, readable coffee table book, unlike untold others we've all bought before!

great book for collectors
Since I collect many things, I was curious about this title. It did not disappoint.

Overrated and ridiculous
This book is less about interiors for collectors and more about pictures of homes you and Hyacinth Bucket will never afford. A T-rex skull, a giant 500-pound bust of Winston Churchill, and baker's dozen of Staffordshire dogs displayed on a built-in shelf is NOT what I thought this book was about. My boredom with the posh and their ostentatious foo-foo turned to annoyance when the author thought it would be interesting to show you 5 pages of some house frau's leather handbag collection (including 5 exact copies of the same YSL purse in 5 different colors :eyeroll:). My annoyance grew when the author talked about how great the owner's objects d'art looked on a red leather desktop but then made it impossible for you to even decide whether you agreed by photographing the room at any angle but one that would allow you to see that oh-so-compelling red leather desktop. I could have taken a hint from the cover, and so should you. In a word: "Eew." One extra star for the quality of the photography, though. I'm returning the book.
