First, some reviewers incorrectly said this was flimsy. It is not. While the metal is a bit thin, it is no thinner than more expensive brands. And this one is STAINLESS STEEL (picture 2) which should last a long time, not the painted carbon steel which tends to rust out in a few years.Other reviewers mention the poor instructions. They are correct. The instructions (first picture) that come with it are terrible and some of the details are inconsistent between the online videos and these instructions.I assembled it on my kitchen table (pictures 3 & 4). Putting it together was somewhat tedious, but easy. If this will be on a roof where people can't easily see details, I'd recommend putting all the bolt heads on the inside, pushing them through to the outside. This makes a few things easier. But if it will be low and visible (unusual) then you can put the bolt heads on the outside.The only hard part was figuring out how to attach it to the chimney. This will depend on the size of the chimney compared to the cap. I included some pictures (last 4) of how I attached mine.

The included instructions are not very helpful, however there is an instruction video on YouTube. Not withstanding the poor included instructions, the product is an excellent value

Be aware that this requires assembly - check the video, the instructions with the package are sparse. The 8x8 unit is pretty much exactly 8x8 - no margin - my 8" flue is about 8 1/8" so the unit was a little small. Unfortunately they don't appear to have a 9x9. Other than that, unit was very well packed and the quality seemed good.

Fit perfect. Has everything you need to mount either inside or outside your flue. Seems to be quality material.

Thick high quality stainless steel. I modified it too fit my chimney and I'm very happy with it.

The item is made out of 1/32” steel making it jello-like despite having reinforcing corners. The attachment design is questionable at best. The slits in the mounting brackets are too large making the bolts fall through.For some unknown reason the mounting bolts are 3” long. There are also 3/4” wood screws included that seemingly have no use at all.To summarize: poor mechanical design, unsuitable materials and minimal instructions

The product came with the worst instructions I had ever read. The pieces were sharp and dangerous. Unless you wear cut proof gloves and sleeves I would suggest you do not even attempt putting it together. I had extra parts for some areas and missing parts for others.Again I must stress that it was dangerous to put this together and had limited instruction with no parts list.Also did not fit the chimney size advertised.
