What are the dimensions for the whole unit? The product specs say 6.2 x 4.7 x 1.5", but from the reviews it doesn't seem almost 5" (4.7) wide.

This item measures approximately. 4.5" tall x 3.25" wide x 7/8" deep. Unfortunately the dimensions and weights of many products on Amazon are not correct. For what ever reason, Amazon does not take the time to be sure they are correct. I always advise people, that if actual size and weight are important, then it is best to ask before purchasing, as you did. Whats the difference in this one vs the deluxe?

This is NOT the deluxe. The deluxe has a stand on the back that allows you to sit it on a table and point is towards you.

what is deluxe about this compared to the regular o2cool neckace fan?

The fan in this is actually a lot more powerful than other brands, this kept my face cool to my visit in Jamaica which is a very very humid place. Its worth the buy. And it works even better in places not as humid as Jamaica.

Can the lanyard be swapped out with a "nicer" one of my own?

Yes, if you carefully take the fan apart, you can swap it out for a nicer one. You just need a tiny screw driver.
