How is the quality of this magnifying glass?

the quality is pretty good in my opinion. considering you can use this magnifying glass with a stand (great option when digging out splinters), or handheld like you Sherlock Holmes. The glass is very clear and has a smaller more powerful area embedded into the regular magnifying glass. I even use it as a flashlight once in a while because its LED's are very powerful.

does this come with the usb plug in cord that is mentioned?

Hello, mine did not come with the charging cord. It does have a hole for the charging. It takes batteries thats what I have been using so far. Hope you like it, I love mine I use it as a night light too lol
