Coloring gray hair
Like many people have reported, I also had trouble covering gray hair with most hair colors, including this brand. Even after 1 hour, my gray hair barely changed. I really wanted to use this brand, because I'm allergic to PPD. Then, I tried the idea of wetting my hair with Hydrogen Peroxide 15 minutes prior to applying hair color to my hair. Then, only 25 minutes after applying color, my gray hair was completely covered - it worked like magic! You don't have to dry or remove the Hydrogen Peroxide before applying color. Make sure to read the warnings on the label of the Hydrogen Peroxide and be careful not get it in your eyes, etc. It didn't have any effect on me the results were great.

BMW: Big Money Waste!
It does not cover greys even after one hour exposure. And whatever darkening you manage to get will wash away after couple of hair washes. We bought it following some good comments online but my honest advice is to keep your money and enjoy your grey hair instead or buy a good one like Natural Instincts from Clairol. Absolutely disappointed with the product. Don't let be fooled.

No PPDs or PTDs!!
Finally, a product that does not contain PPDs or PTDs. After years of torturing my hair and scalp with conventional ammonia, peroxide, PTD and PPD-laden chemical dyes, I found CoSaMo. I developed such severe allergies to both PPDs and PTDs that my ears would become highly inflamed and swollen, and the skin would break open and weep. My scalp developed scabs and lesions. My neck was always inflamed and had large red irritated bumps. Even so, I tended to stay away from rinses because they washed out so quickly and weren't all that effective at covering graying hair. My hair is probably 75% gray, but CoSaMo stays in until the next application.* By that time (3 weeks), the new pale roots are showing. * Here's a caveat: I add a small amount of Surya Henna to the Cosamo (go with the color you're using). Surya Henna brand does contain some PTD (not as bad as the PPD), but the impact of the small amount of PTD is negligible. The henna may help hold the color until the next application.

NOT comparable to Loving Care
I used to use Clairol's Loving Care. This is NOT comparable. It washes out much faster than Loving Care. The color turns out much lighter than shown on the box. I'm almost 100% gray, highly resistant, and this dark brown by CoSaMo makes my hair more of a light golden brown.Still, I will continue to use this product because it is the only one I feel comfortable with since it contains far fewer ingredients than other haircolors.

Did not work for me
I get horrible weeping blisters from regular hair color. This did not bother my skin at all. However, the color totally washed out during the very first rinse. I tried again and left it on for 50 minutes and it still all washed out. Very disappointing....

Leave in a lot longer and it's great!
I finally realized I had to leave the dye on my hair for an hour+. Nice color. No shine. But the great part is NO allergic reaction! PPD turns my scalp into a blanket of icky pustules and makes my whole face swell up like a balloon. This lasts for a couple of months. Good stuff.

BE PATIENT
I like this hair color because I am extremely allergic to ppd and most other chemicals...emergency room visit 2 times because of reactions from hair color. My dermatologist said I was going to kill myself if I didn't stop coloring my hair. But like others in this situation, I am not ready to go all gray. Even though this hair color is non permanent, it does cover the gray if you keep it on longer than the directions say. I kept it on 1 hour with the plastic bag that was provided. That length of time is not even close to the time (3 hours) it took to have henna plus indigo at the salon where I used to go until i became allergic to the indigo. So until something is discovered that is safe, I'll use Cosavo.
