Wonderful
This is the bigger model of their weather station, bought because other reviewers said the smaller version was too small. This sits about 5 feet away from my chair and I can read it with no problems, as long as I have my glasses on. I live on a hill and the wind speed and wind chill are important to me when working outside. I had no problem installing the white part, on a pole in my garden as I did not want to mow around it. If you are interested in high up wind speed, this can be attached to your house. This makes it easy to decide what to wear outside!

Disappointing
This was a gift to replace a weather station that no longer worked at all. It was very disappointing to discover that the background on the screen is so dark you cannot read the numbers unless you are standing directly in front of it. We have placed it in several locations thinking perhaps a brighter room might help, but it did not. There does not seem to be any control for making the background color any lighter. Otherwise, as far as the information, it is fairly accurate, and we are ok with the information received, just wish we could read it from farther away than one to two feet.

great weather station for Arkansas windy mountains
This is a very good product for the price. I am very pleased with the amount of information it discloses. My only regret is that there is not a way to have it register wind chill all the time. It only shows wind chill if the temp is below 40 degrees. We live in a very windy area and even on 50 degree days it would be nice to know the wind chill for my cold-natured self and also my livestock. I had no problem assembling and installing the device. Very user friendly manual and it monitors so many weather conditions. My only concern is how long it will last from a durability standpoint outside in harsh conditions year round. Might be worth ordering 2 and sticking one back against inflation and availability.

Wind Weather Station
We live on top of a hill in the mountains where weather information, particularly wind speed, is good to have. How we've lived here for 10 years without this device is the question. It was easy to install, etc. and so far has been very reliable with the screen inside large enough for us to read easily on the fireplace mantel. Attractive and not flimsy we're very satisfied. We've recorded winds up to almost 50 mph since installation with no problems and with summer thunderstorms approaching we will be watching the barometer, etc. closely.

Acu-Rite Weather Station Cannot Easily Receive Remote Signals
I have had 2 Oregon Scientific weather stations in the past located in the same exact spot where I tried wall mounting the Acu-Rite Weather Station. I never had any signal reception problems with the Oregon units in receiving the Colorado atomic clock signal or the signal from the remote weather sensor. I can only get the Acu-Rite to receive both signals (clock & weather) if I place the Acu-Rite station directly in front of a window with direct line of sight to the weather sensor that is about 30 feet away. The batteries in the sensor and station are new and verified with a volt meter to be good. There is no metal walls, metal studs in the walls, or metal obstructions between the station and sensor. There is no electrical wiring, receptacles, or light switches in the wall where I tried to mount the Acu-Rite. I have vinyl siding on the outside of the house.
