So far so good!
Works well so far. As with most things I purchase, I like to disassemble them and figure out how they work. Here is how this one is assembled:Stainless steel casing (two parts: main assembly as pictured, steel latch door for access to plastic housing)Plastic housing (contains the brains of the unit. Houses the battery, board and 120dB alarm)Locking mechanism (did not remove from the steel housing)Keys - 3 or 4 keys I believe and one flat (only for removing the battery door) engraved with serial number on it. Nice to have that info in case you somehow lose 4 keys. It's a nice little package, this item works by shooting infrared lasers at a subject (the rotor disc) and monitoring movement. The product says "shock resistant" as well, but I am uncertain this has an accelerometer in it. When you lock it onto the rotor, it beeps after 5 seconds confirming it has been triggered. After 10 seconds, the motion and shock sensors are engaged. When you lock it not on the rotor for storage, the infrared beam bounces off a reflective plate and and back in to a receiving sensor so it does not engage. Make sure to keep this sensor clean, otherwise it may arm. When applied on my motorcycle, it is fairly sensitive. I tinkered with the bike (definitely wear ear plugs if you plan to do so) and was able to move it just barely until it recognized movement. The alarm beeps twice and then goes off; it stops after about 20 seconds I would say and then re-engages. A couple times it did take a little more movement than others, however if anyone tried sitting on the bike I am 99% sure it will go off. I was able to get it from resting on the kickstand to upright but had to so very gently. You can adjust the sensitivity by altering where the lock sits. The manual first recommends to set it between 12 and 3 o'clock, I put it at about 3 and got the results above. I haven't had the need to put it elsewhere, but if it is not sensitive enough they recommend placing it at 6 o'clock. If any of this changes I will be sure to update.Oh, the locking mechanism works by putting the key in, turning and a spring pops the tumblers and pin up. To lock you simply line up the pin with the rotor hole, and push it shut. Same procedure when storing and not in use.Good product, gives you a little more peace of mind - but keep in mind this wouldn't make your bike 100% theft proof.***~1 year update ***Rating drop from 5 star to 4 star.Item still works as described above, with a few side effects. When locking on rotor, often after engaging the alarm will immediately go off once - then reset and then be ok. Sometimes I randomly hear it go off with seemingly nothing setting it off - not fun to run to a false alarm. Additionally, sometimes I find it harder to set off the alarm - the other day I stuck my key in and turned and it didn't engage until the last second; pretty rough motion before it went off. Still works, not as optimal. As stated above, gives you a little more peace of mind (with some false alarms!) but in no way makes your bike 100% theft proof; this is a deterrent.

Perfect
We live in a shady neighborhood and the neighbor said he saw some guys trying to pick up my boyfriend's bike in the middle of the night. So we immediately started looking for an alarm. This thing is perfect. Really easy to put on and loud enough that we can hear it when we're inside! The price is great, but having the peace of mind is even better.

Great idea, great price, works well, but unlocking it is an extreme nuisance.
While this alarm system is great value, it functions well, and it is a great ease of mind, it is absolute pain to take off of your bike. Mine goes off 3-4 times before I can get the key completely in and get a full turn to unlock it. The key gets stuck half way through the unlocking mechanism and when you try and figit with it to get it all the way in, the alarm (as it is supposed to) goes off. Alarm is great, but the locking mechanism is a real pain the butt.If you're looking for something to deter while you're away from your home for a while, this is perfect - otherwise, it is simply too much hassle to use in public, or every day at home.

after about 4 months this alarm has started to malfunction ...
after about 4 months this alarm has started to malfunction, the alarm will go off about 5 seconds after arming it without any trigger. Last night it woke myself, as well as my immediate neighbors, up at 3 am repeatedly going off for no reason. I stood at the window seeing if anyone was messing with it and no one was. So i rushed outside in my underwear and took it off, But that wasnt enough, It kept going off even after unlocking it and I was forced to Smash it on the asphalt from above my head in order to disarm it. THANKS XENA!!

Alarm broke and now goes off even when not engaged
The alarm performed well initially. I transport the alarm under my motorcycle seat. While riding, I noticed the alarm under my seat go off. It turns out, the alarm unit loosened from the stainless steel casing. The distance to the casing is now less and the alarm thinks the casing is a disc brake from a motorcycle, arming the alarm. With some duct tape I was able to fix the issue temporarily... Very poor performance for the steep price.

Scooter Alarm
Being the proud owner of the 2014 Burgman 650, I knew I had to have a great alarm. I purchased this alarm after watching a you tube video on it, and it was amazing. This product arrived way I mean way before they advertised it, Worth every penny I spent on it. Since I don't have a motorcycle I was worried about having extra security. This thing works like a champ and would recommend it to anyone that has either a moped or a scooter/Maxi Scooter. Worth the piece of mind knowing that you bike is now safe.
