Sweet! Cross pen and pencil
Ah, yes! My new pen/pencil set arrived today. I'm over 65 and I've owned (and lost) many sets over the years, but during the past 15 or 20 years I haven't given them much thought. Then, a few days ago while ordering some other merchandise, I said, "What the hell." and bought a set. Purely on impulse. When they arrived, I showed them to a few younger friends around the office and they were impressed. Some of the guys are into big watches the size of hubcaps. Well, I gave in and bought one of those things about two years ago, a Seiko Sumo with a sapphire dome, after-market hands, and a silicone diving band with a deployant clasp. You can read a newspaper by the lume on the dial. But what I'm really proud of at the moment are my new, bright, sweet, Cross pen and pencil. By the way, they were delivered very quickly and they feel and write beautifully!7/4/2016 Update: It's been well over a year since I bought this set and I haven't lost them yet! Misplaced, yes, Lost - no. I've gotten a lot of good use from the pen and on my third refill. The pencil doesn't get much use because the mechanism is confusing. However, I have no complaints about the pen. My daughter in law just graduated from law school and has admired the pen set. When she passes the bar exam, I'll get her a set too. In terms of the "bling factor," they're much nicer than a huge, expensive, hulking diving watch.

v classy
beautiful pens, love them already. i didn't care for the fact that the box they come in, not the external box but the actual box you can keep them safe in, had tape on it to keep it closed and when i removed it it tore off some of the cover of the box which ruins the look now :( idk why. otherwise, pens themselves great, smooth writing, comes with refills. very elegant and classy look, will be using for work.

China, Upper Volta, who cares? The gold-filled barrels are MADE IN USA!!!
There have been complaints that these pens aren't the same quality as they used to be because they're made in China, not the USA, as they used to be. First of all, the barrels of the gold-filled models are made in the United States (look carefully). I have not had any trouble getting the caps to screw back on tight if I needed to remove one; but since I hate that tiny little eraser that typically comes with a pen & pencil set like this, I usually carry around a larger one. They do not feel "light like plastic" as one reviewer put it. I never had an old Cross set made in the USA entirely, so I cannot judge the difference, but I do not see anything wrong with these pens. Probably the biggest difference is that they have gone from a 0.5mm to a 0.7mm pencil, hence the yellow thing that screws in for the leads & erasers. They came in a nice box; cardboard, but very thick, and with a ribbon handle on it, covered in protective plastic, with elastic bands to hold them down (like most nice pens come).I've had the set for about two weeks and so far, no problems. Oh, and I might add, unlike most of the other pen companies (Parker, Sheaffer, etc.) they have a LIFETIME WARRANTY. So if something does go wrong you can mail it to the exact same address where they've always been headquartered, in Rhode Island (which isn't a province of the People's Republic of China in case you were wondering).

Beautiful set!
This set was a gift and it was perfect. I ordered 1 day shipping and got it super quick and they were beautiful in a box. They were great quality and looked great. I am very pleased and would recommend these for a gift or yourself. I had a hard time finding them in local stores in yellow gold so being able to find them online and order them quickly was awesome. Thanks so much for a awesome product.

Cross Pen/Pencil
Great pen/pencil set. I've used this pen/pencil set for 20 years or more. When I lose one or the other I buy a new set. Unlike some of the comments above, this is the same product I have been using for a very long time. The price was the best I found on-line, and the service was great. I even got expedited delivery comped. I recommend this seller and this product.

Gold Cross Pens, nothing better
Just like the pair I ordered years ago when I worked for the company making the tubes for Cross. The Metal Box Corporation bought Risdon Mfg in the late 1970’s. The product still shines like new and I couldn’t resist the deal to have another set of gold pens. Luv them.

Close to perfect
I love the weight and feel of both the pen and pencil. The pencil is smooth and doesn't have any wobble like you often feel in cheaper mechanical pencils. The ink of the pen seems to flow quite smoothly. I've seen some reviews about the decline in quality of Cross products made in China; these instruments are both stamped "Made in USA". However; my only complaint is that the plating on the pencil is worn off on part of the tip. Also, if you look closely at the back side of the clip, you can see some oxidation of the metal has occurred. Let's be honest, how often are you going to be looking microscopically at your pencil while you write. It's not enough for me personally to send it back because I have to look very closely to see it and the functionality and feel of the instruments is quality enough for me to hold onto them.
